I really don't understand why there are electrical engineers at B.E.C. and no one knows how to perform a power system analysis on Nassau's transmission system. They are bringing in four consultants to advise them of their problems. The electrical engineers at B.E.C need training in softwares such as ETAP and CYME so they can fully understand the transmission system and the problems that are occurring. Obviously a short in the high voltage capable means that the loads are exceeding the ampacity of the cable. This can be prevented by regularly performing a short circuit analysis on the clifton pier substation infrastructure since out network is 132kV/69kV. If the generators are switching on and off to protect themselves it means they need to upgrade their differential protection scheme at the substation. if they did that then could have performed arch flash studies to improve their antiquated systems hence prevent the "blowing up" of 5 generators due to the lightning strike. Since generators are nonlinear loads they inject harmonics into the grid and so when a load shedding happened it can cause the consumers equipment such as electronics to malfunction. What's beyond me is that the government can spend 20 million dollars on a building but they can't upgrade the current electrical transmission system. If the transmission system becomes more reliable then the next step would be solar integration.
Well an African proverb says "Ignorance will not kill you but it will make you sweat a lot" ..B.E.C is sweating profusely!!!
I'm a doctoral student researching renewable energy systems with seven publications. If I were to plagiarized I would be banned from publishing for 10 years from my professional society and my name would be recorded. C'mon Minister Fitzgerald we already have a failed educational system lets at least have some dignity. A Ph.D is not given-it's earned. And through earning this degree or any graduate degree academic misconduct is never tolerated on any level. If c.o.b wants to become university status this decision is not the way to go.
Mr Wilchcombe said: “What we have done is we have looked at the way the games exist and what the activity is that takes place in the web shops today, and we have sought to create for an industry regulations that does not in any way destroy the strong and lasting integrity of our country.
Well I beg to differ because the Bahamas' integrity has been diminished a long time ago. I'm a citizen of a country that promotes academic dishonesty at the "University of the Bahamas",encourages illegal activities such as gambling and a plethora of other issues. It's actually depressing reading the news knowing that the government of the Bahamas lacks integrity, vision and ingenuity. The majority of the politicians are old and expired and they can't think outside of the box, which is probably why the Bahamas spends an enormous amount of money on consultants.
How can they appoint Dr. Smith after he committed plagiarism which is the highest academic offense. Wow! This definitely confirms the college's lack of integrity.
Maybe the government should rethink their position with Stellar Energy. Their value proposition is weak with no pipeline projects displayed on their website.
I concur. I'm pursuing a Ph.D in electrical engineering with emphasis on renewable energy systems and power systems analysis. It's sad that most students who've earned technical degrees don't return but just as you said we have daft, ignorant politicians "running the show" which leads to a company that lacks integrity and students such as myself don't want to waste their talents on companies of that nature.
Soooooo know one thought to construct buildings on crown land.... Why is the government paying rent? And why does the ministry of national security need an increase when the government just took out a loan to purchase eleven ship vessels?
