Another solution, hat might be cheaper and easier to install is an on demand propane water heater. This only uses propane when you want hot water and is very easily installed. I have been using one here on Abaco for the past 25 years and the only part I have had to replace is the thermal couple that allows the gas to flow through the heater.

Thank you again, Mr. Hartnell.
Just to be clear, David Pitcairn does not have a house in Little Harbour. Yes, he has a piece of land next to the proposed marina site, he parks his car there, that's all. But hey, maybe he could put a goat farm right there - the Developer has already proved there are no zoning restrictions on what you can do in Little Harbour.
Well, at least we can enjoy a peaceful Christmas.

Mr. Hartnell, thank you for another great article.
I just want to clarify that the "alleged" maximum of 2 jobs comes straight from the EIA - you can read it on the BEST website. And the "alleged" price of $125,000 per slip came straight from the horse's mouth - David Southworth's, that is - at a meeting in Little Harbour on January 8th, 2015, in front of over 30 LH residents. These are FACTS.
Also, the marina would be private - even if an LH resident wanted to buy a slip, they couldn't, unless they joined the Abaco Club first. So the developer wants to take up 20% of the usable space in our LITTLE harbour with a BIG marina that only he and his cronies can use.

In reply to brookbee's comment - the surrounding area is already protected - we have the East Abaco Creeks Park right outside the harbour entrance, and the Pelican Cays Park a mile to the north. Also, the Johnstons have, for decades, protected the turtles in the harbour, the reef off North Beach, and the tropic bird nesting area at the harbour entrance. All this is would be under threat from this private marina. Jet skis, oil spills, lights on all night - I can't wait!

Thank you, Fred Smith, for correcting Mr. Rolle's histrionics. Now Little Harbour people are accused of being responsible for driving the youth of Abaco to a life of crime? Does anyone seriously believe the claim make by Southworth at the meeting that this marina would result in 1000 construction jobs? According to the 2010 census, there are 17,224 people on Abaco. So Winding Bay will hire one out of every 17 people on the island, man, woman and child, to build houses for them? What are they planning to build, Baha Mar North?
This is a blatant attempt to trick the people of Abaco into thinking that this marina will actually bring prosperity to the island. It will only bring prosperity to the Developer, who says he will sell slips for $125,000 each. 44 slips, that's $5.5 million in his pocket. And maybe some of it in some Nassau pockets too??

This is photo they SHOULD have with this article - this is how the marina would look, and yes, this is to scale! The yellow dots are moorings. The existing docks in the area are 100 ft long. The marina dock is 270 ft long, 320 ft wide. Two acres of dock in an 11 acre harbour.

At the Cherokee meeting last week, Southworth said the marina would generate 1000 construction jobs at Winding Bay. WHAT??? 2010 Census shows the population of Abaco at 17,224, man, woman and child. So he's going to hire 1 out of every 17 people on Abaco? And build what, 100 houses all at the same time? In his dreams! The EIA said there would be "a maximum of 2 jobs" created by the marina. Big difference!

Blue Flag or not, the marina would still take up 20% of the harbour. Six registered, long-standing moorings would have to be moved to who knows where. The residents would have to listen to a generator all night long where before there was only the sound of the waves. And the below ground holding tank is planned for an area that is below water in even a modest hurricane. Then where's your Blue Flag? Swimming in you-know-what.

If Government is "thoroughly sick of Judicial Review initiatives", maybe they should try answering letters from the public occasionally. Of all the letters that have been sent by Little Harbour residents to members of Government in the past 17 months, some with over 60 signatures, not one has elicited a response. Not even a "we got your letter" response. At one point, we were sending a letter to the PM every single day. So what are we meant to do? The only way we can have our say is to file for Judicial Review.

Little Harbour is a very low key, laid back kind of place. The last thing we wanted to do was have to hire a lawyer and drag this through the press and the courts. But the developer and the Government leave us no choice. So be it.

Mr. Peterson is surprised that Mr. Southworth hasn't met with local opposition to one of his developments before. That's because Mr. Southworth has never actually developed anything before. He's more like a used car salesman, he just buys up golf resorts that are going bankrupt, in foreclosure, defaulting on loans, etc. The only thing he ever actually tried to develop from scratch was PGA Village on Cat Island, and look how well that worked out for him - after 7 years, it's still just a bunch of architect's drawings.
Mr. Southworth has said in the international press on at least two occasions that he buys cheap so that he will "have inventory" and make millions when the economy improves. Little Harbour doesn't want to be part of a used golf course salesman's inventory!
