DDK, the answer to that is yes. We jog where we want in the states, without incident. We have walking trails, bike trails and some cut thru the woods. I'm always aware of my surroundings. Even in the Bahamas back in the 70's I spent three summers in the Bahamas's. We walked everywhere, hitched rides, without incident. The crime does seem to be out of control there. I think it's due to the economy and lack hope for the future, but there is. Leave move to Fla., get a job, buy a house, have a family. You are so close to the Bahamas, visit anytime you want. Seek out a better life.
John Most of your info about Coke is true, but they don't deny that there is sugar and caffeine. They have regular coke and diet coke, then caffeine free of both. At least here. Coke's headquarters are here in Atlanta, which I lived most of my life. If you get a job with coke, your doing well. I believe the article was talking about marijuana, its a misdemeanor here.
Dog fighting, Cock fighting, it's all mean and inhumane. I had two pit bulls, both raised from babies. Spoiled rotten, the female turned on us. She didn't have a chance to hurt us because I got rid of her before she did. She was mean in the end. I don't know why, other then it's in their DNA. Why would we want to watch something so mean.
sheeprunner12 Your totally right. The cruise ships will quit coming into Nassau in particular. They already warn their passengers that Nassau has a high crime rate. Even right off the ship. They tell their passengers to leave all money and jewelry on the ship. They have already paid for their excursion on board and they may take 20.00 with them for incidentals. Sometimes not even that. Once their off the ship they may see something that they want but they didn't bring their money. That's why they don't spend money. Some don't even bring money to tip. They like their own islands where they feed the guest and they set up a little straw market. It's boring as hell. I've been and I hated it will never go on a cruise again that's stops at their own island. Most people don't know the difference and they enjoy it. The beach wasn't even nice, it was rocky. Awful!
Who thinks that. Why can't black people own webshop's and casinos? I have read enough over the years Bahamians have had it very hard and I sincerely care. It should be so different. I don't understand why the Bahamas aren't a booming tourist's business. With lots of good jobs, not just entry level. Teenagers should be doing the entry level jobs, and work their way up. Some industry besides tourism would be great. As if you don't already know this. I really worry about you guys and pray for you often. It's going to take a lot to change, but it can happen. Starting once again at home with our young people. Education will be about change, because people will quit going with the flow and fight for change. Governments gain control by dumbing us down. Here too!
Probably not anymore. The Florida governor is cracking down. I think there will be some major changes. Less guns sold, harder to get them and having police stationed inside of the schools or at least satellite offices. Their overwhelming presents will help a lot. I can tell you i their presents is obvious. They are doing everything they can. A lot of big jobs have been lost over obvious mistakes, and people have opened their eyes. I'm so glad.
Yes, there are many tent cities here. We just leave them alone, unless they are causing problems. The problem here is I don't think these people want a job. If you want to work in the States you can get a job, even if your illegal. Here is if the employer finds out their paper work is phony they can't fired them. They really don't care if they work. There are also day labor areas and people just pull up and hire people for the day. They all seem to get work at about 10.00 bucks an hour. They aren't getting rich, but they can provide for their families.
