Birdie, I would love NHI IF I could trust government to do it without waste, mismanagement, corruption and all the rest of their nasty tricks. Only a fool would believe that a government scheme such as NHI could be sucsessful or even in our best interest, it will be a total failure just as every other government scheme is. Tell me one government scheme that is not beset by incompetence, political medelling, corruption, waste, mismanagement, and in general is a drain on Bahamians as a whole. This is a disaster in the making and may just sink the country. Sad to say but at this point that may be a good thing!
The Government of The Bahamas is the #1 threat to the well being of The Bahamas. Government = theft, corruption, waste. mismanagement, boy would I be proud to be in government, NOT!
31 million that will be wasted, stolen and mismanaged by our corrupt, thieving, wasteful, government. I wonder why nobody is getting that warm fuzzy feeling about NHI?
The ministry of health just came out and said they waste 100 million a year. What makes any sane person think that NHI will not be a corrupt, wasteful, mismanaged scheme that benefits the politicians and their croneys? We the Bahamian people will get no benefit, will bear the burden of the taxes and still have to pay for private health to get any sort of real health care. Bend over Bahamas, you are about to get juice once again and no they ain't gonna give you no vasilene to ease the pain!
If they do, our health care in this country will become just as much a failure as any other government scheme. Tell me one government scheme that is NOT beset by corruption, waste and mismanagement. That is exactly what you can count on with NHI. Boy am I looking forward to some crappy health care, waiting for day/weeks to receive it, and paying taxes that I can not afford. Help and hope have arrived praise Perry!
What about the sunken boats on the north side of Potters Cay that are spewing oil into our waters? Never mind they are an eyesore and neatly sum up the lack of environmental over site by our government, they have been sunk there for years. How mush dock rent is lost due to these sunken boats? How much oil have they leaked. Why have they been left to rot and become that much harder to remove. They should be the mascots for nasty Potters Cay. Two rusty, derelict sunken boats about sum up the ambiance of Potters Cay. Add some rotten conch, nasty drunk locals, and plastic bags/foam containers in the harbour as a bonus and boy the tourist should come running.
yep, just like VAT would not affect our economy in a negative way, NHI will be a savior to the Bahamian people. Anyone who believes a peep that comes out of the Governments mouth is a fool. Just look at what VAT has done to the real estate market, down by 50% while government revenue from real estate is down 70%. These politicians are hell bent on destroying the middle class and the economy. Their goal is to have ALL Bahamians destitute and at the mercy of our failure of a government. Tell me ONE government scheme that is not a total failure, festering with corruption, saddled with waste, and mismanaged by political appointees who are unable to get jobs in the real world. That is exactly what NHI will be while also the straw that will break The Bahamas back. As Banker says maybe we do need to hit rock bottom before the Bahamian people wake up. Also then maybe we can jail some of these corrupt politicians or even better hang them for treason.
With no performance ‘track record’ to draw upon, Mr Bowe said it was better suited to sophisticated institutional investors who had “the ability to analyse the risk and take advantage of the opportunity”.**So the average Bahamian is to stupid to understand the risk of investing in NewCo, that is what this man is saying and I guess that is what government thinks as well, how insulting can you get? **
Once again the PLP show that they are really a party for the rich and powerful, they do nothing to help the little man get ahead. Why could the FNM sell shares in the port to 11 thousand Bahamians who have all reaped the rewards of investing and this government is only allowing the big shots to invest in NewCo. People like Frankie Wilson will be well taken care of while Joe Bahamas once again has to sit small. We see who the plp really is looking out for and it sure as hell is NOT the small man. The PLP looks out for the political elite, the rich, the powerful and the little man gets left in the dust. Same as always, take a look at the P.M.s constituancy and it tells the whole story. the man has been their representer for forty years and they still using outdoor toilet that is his version of help and hope.
