Tkalikl, as you seem not to know, The government will own 51% of whatever company gets the next cell license. They say that it is so they can then offer those shares to Bahamian investors. They do not say how long they will hold onto those shares, nor do they say which Bahamian investors will be offered these shares. What they have said is the actual bidder (Cable or Virgin at this point) will have 49%, have management control, and be required to finance the entire endeavor. As this government is so sneaky and secretive, with rumors of corruption swirling about everything they do, it is a valid question as to how they will dispose of said 51% if they do at all. I think you may have BTC (49%) and the new cell license mixed up.

I concur. If Urban was not a slush fund and used as a vote buying tool, it would be fantastic. These things MUST benefit ALL Bahamians, be managed professionally, with transparency and accountability. The bidding must be open to all.

Tal, do you think the same will be true of our current P.M.? I do not.

When you have an executive branch that does not obey the laws of the land and ignores the verdict of the Judiciary (Blackbeards Cay) you have lost the rule of law. Why would the citizens of a country obey the law if they see the people that are supposed to be leaders in that country breaking laws. We must get rid of the corrupt PLP and bring back the rule of law. This town has gone down the path we are on with the pirates of yesteryear, the only difference is those pirates probably had more honor than the ones today. We need a Woods Rodgers in the worst possible way to hang them or run them out of town.

The word is that the place is already starting to decay. As it seems it will take a couple years to sort out the legal side of this fiasco, I wonder what shape the interior will be in? They probably will have to gut the place and start again. This is going to be a long ride that's for sure. What a sad story.

Once the license is granted, how long will government hold onto that %51? If they do let Bahamian investors buy shares, will it be the general public like the Port or just friends, family, and lovers, of the PLP? The PLP does not like the common man becoming finacially empowered as this makes them less dependent on government and the slimy PLP.

“Scheduling is a significant task." LOL, no wonder these people are so far behind, they find it difficult to schedule. Really, pick a date and stick to it, if the party's are interested in obtaining a license, they will be there. It is obvious that URCA is stalling, one wonders the reason why?

The sad part is many under educated Bahamians will swallow this nanny hook, line, and sinker. This is why our political class is just fine with our D/E grades. Meanwhile their children go to private school and then away.

Go to any beach on a Monday here in Nassau and the situation will be made clear as day, the majority of Bahamians have zero pride in their environment. I would hate to own property that Bahamians could traverse and post up on for the simple reason that I know they will degrade it and leave it looking like a dump. How can you fault any property owner that wants to keep his property tidy and clean. We all know the majority of Bahamians have no respect for their own yards much less anyone else own. I would want to block access myself.
