Why don't we borrow money to send our own people to become experts in oil refineries and natural resources? If we see an industry beneficial to our people why simply have them educated in it. This why I believe we're so far behind. We've gotten in the habit of hire investors and consultants to do half jobs for us and take 2% of the profit.

This deal needs to be shut down. Yes, Freeport is in dire need of jobs but getting in bed with the devil will only screw us in the long run, again.

There no quick fixes to what this country is facing.

School beating did not help the kids when I was growing up. They became worse actually because beating them does not fix the underlying problem. Send these kids to counselors and find out whats really going on with them. Many of them are unmotivated because they have to experience real abuse when they go home.

I got beating in school a few times for not turning in homework lol. Which looking back now was ridiculous and barbaric but it had no effect on my grades or my motivation to do better.

Simply look where it has gotten us, a D average. F in the nation's capital.

Homework dont pay the bills that's why. You can't do homework when you're hungry. You cant do homework if your parents don't have a job to get you school supplies. you cant do your homework because even though you'll get a high school dilploma you might be lucky enough to get a job cleaning rooms at Atlantis

We are all savages on all fronts of our Bahama land.
Drug bust from foreign forces.
dump burning
shanty town burnings
infighting fnm vs plp, Haitians, vs Bahamians, neighbor killing neighbor
spousal rape
Corrupt leaders
no education
no healthcare
no jobs
no wealth
etc,etc
'Proud to be a Bahamian'

Sounds like savages to me

Our roads are dangerous because traffic laws aren't enforced, poor lighting, drunk driving, people driving without licences. If we just started there I think we'd have much safer roads.

I agree we do live in substance dependent society. I think most of the western world does. Also I did not say alcohol and marijuana are the same. My point was one shouldn't fear being jailed for it.

How many people in Sandilands has smoked unlaced marijuana once and gone crazy?

People have used alcohol and become alcoholics, drive drunk, commit crimes, rape, etc.

I agree with you about increasing willingness and gambling. So what do you believe will be the social implications of more people smoking marijuana? Does keeping it illegally/criminalized benefit us morally or economically?

Yes our social structure is needs great improvement but I don't see how decriminalizing marijuana would hinder that. Canada and Australia are about to move to full legalization let's see if there society collapses.

The answer I believe is simple is that you educate people. I never had or don't recall at least being educated about cigarettes or alcohol, marijuana, opiods in primary or high school. Give people the information that way they can choose for themselves.
