Yes, much better to starve to death and suffer 90 percent unemployment than to let people go about their business while taking sensible, basic precautions.

Glad to see that the pilot in command (PIC) followed training by landing straight ahead and did not attempt the so called impossible turn back toward the runway while below 1,000 feet AGL. Let's hope that those negative virus test documents survived the accident as well.

All this talk about a storm coming is hot breeze and is being used to provide wiggle room around this reversal of position. The very last thing that we need is a storm of any description or category. The consequences of the passage of any type of severe weather system over or near to New Providence would add to the enormous problems facing the general public at present.

Quite right and sensible people have been warning about this outcome since the beginning of this madness. No one can fault the administration for the actions of cruise ship operators and the actions of foreign governments. The sensible argument has always been against the wilful destruction of what remains of the local economy. Now that conditions have deteriorated considerably the true nature of the situation is becoming more apparent.

The reality for Abaco at the moment is numerous daily power cuts for areas now restored to the grid and other areas still waiting for service to be restored. Of course, this restoration of service is dependent upon a successful electrical inspection by Ministry of Works. Many people are still using generators and these folks can be seen filling portable gasoline containers at the local service stations.

It is obvious to even the casual onlooker that it is impossible to control every individual in the country. All that is being accomplished is the sure and certain destruction of the economy of the country. Half of the problem is the attempt to impose unenforceable rules on an unwilling and unconvinced populace.

Personally, I am waiting to see which national leader will be the first to admit that the virus cannot be eliminated at present therefore the population is instructed to take all basic common sense precautions and to get on with their lives. A continuation of this pattern of numerous irksome restrictions will result in an unprecedented level of economic and social destruction from which it will be extremely difficult to recover. From the beginning there appears to have been an atmosphere of hysteria surrounding this outbreak. Many questions remain unanswered about the origins of this virus. This uncertainty adds to the general hysteria.
