And yet when they brought a certain character to court for posting some words on Facebook 2 years ago, the police and RBDF were wearing flack jackets, bulletproof vests and carrying ArmaLite AR15 military assault weapons.

A payroll tax is paid by employers. That means that whatever they pay their employees, they have to add another 3% to pay for healthcare. That adds to the cost of the final product, which is passed on to the consumer. If Atlantis employs 8,000 people and pays them $250 a week, their weekly payroll is $2,000,000. This will increase their costs by $60,000 per week or over $3 million dollars per year. We are already at a competitive price disadvantage in tourism, and adding another $3 million to the cost of product by the prime employer of the Bahamas will cause some tourists to find cheaper vacations. As a result, there will be job losses because business will decrease.

It is sheer fooking nonsense to cripple our number one pillar of the economy with more costs in a market at which we are already noncompetitive.

The trouble with Bran is that he really is a lightweight that doesn`t understand economics. His first economics advisor was the famous eye-doctor, amateur economist who failed at every business that he started. When that didn`t work out, he now has a guy who spent one year at the London School of Economics in a bird course for international development -- not domestic monetary and fiscal policy that one gets with even a basic 4 year economics degree.

A payroll tax will lead to job loss and further degradation of the monolithic economy of the Bahamas.

Bran is more dangerous than Crisco Butt. Crisco Butt is a borrower and spender, but that doesn`t harm the tourism product. Bran will kill the goose that lays the tarnished golden egg.

Both posters of the above are absolutely correct. Pensioners have a fixed income and cannot afford the high cost of real estate, and poor medical facilities. We cannot compete with Florida, in any way whatsoever. Life is too small and the basic amenities are not first world.

Interestingly enough, I paid a courtesy telephone call to one of my ex-clients. He is incredibly well off, but his family members -- not so much. As I was speaking to him on his cell phone, he was in a place in Mexico called San Miguel de Allende, visiting some of his family and he said that was a retiree hotspot for Americans and Canadians. It was culturally rich, inexpensive, and warm in climate.

There is no way this scheme will fly. Most people who retire, sell their expensive house and use the appreciation in their big dwelling to add to their IRA or RRSP or other retirement savings plans.

Typical PLP sycophant -- and what I demonstrated in the previous post. We were talking about the crimes the PLP and Crisco Butt, and you bring in a government opposition car into the convo. Nice try, but focus. Think of the disrepute, criminality and kleptocracy that the PLP brought to this country -- diminishing it. Typical. SMT.

You are demonstrating a favourite trick of apologists. When the guilt//corruption/ morals/ perfidy is apparent even to the blind, the response to defending the indefensible is to blame others as well.

Hubert Alexander Ingraham was the only patriotic prime minister of the Bahamas. End of story. He re-built the infrastructure. He governed the ungovernable. It doesn't matter what you PLP sycophants believe or say, history will show it.

Take a look at this from the Guardian:

*An article published yesterday by thedailybeast.com suggested continued foreign investment in The Bahamas by the Chinese government and Chinese investors has amounted to them being “in control of a country just 180 miles from the coast of the United States”. The article goes on to call The Bahamas a Chinese “client”.*

That is the legacy of the PLP -- selling our sovereignty and putting the Chinese in control. No Crisco Butt, you are far from perfect -- you are a traitor to all Bahamians.

Absolutely ... he has a very poor opinion of you. He is a serial liar. He has no moral compass. And he is a very little man, with a very little mind. On top of that, he has taken the perks of MOFA but not the job seriously.
