The key indicator to watch is the M3 money supply. M1 is the currency in circulation. There is no need to increase M1 because of the stalled economy, the excess liquidity of the banks, no one is getting loans anymore, and the business cycles are moribund.

However, the money supply as defined by M3 keeps on increasing due to government debt. The interesting thing is now with the Central Bank handling it, we won't know how much is undersubscribed. Before, Michael Anderson would give cheery pronouncements saying that it didn't go as well as planned with placing government debt in private hands, but it was "on track". Now if no one wants to buy government debt, the Central Bank can quietly Dutch auction it off to whoever wants to take it and any unsubscribed events can be paid out of General Accounts. For example the CLICO bonds are hugely unpopular. Will there be money to pay them out? Will the NIB be able to cover its $2billion unfunded liabilities? There will come a time when the borrowing tap will be shut off, and it is soon.

Seems like all they ever do, is bailout their political cronies, time and time again.

Mr. Kemp talks about investment, but what he is totally missing, is that the fuel of investment is money -- capital. For any project, and it doesn't matter what field it is in, there is a reliance on imports. And imports can only be made with American dollars or other hard currency. Bahamians do not have the same access to capital that inhabitants of other countries do. We do not have a convertible currency. We have currency conversion restrictions policed by the Central Bank. We are hamstrung. As long as we do not have the capital to import the requirements of big business, we will never own our own economy.

The solution is to dollarize the economy so that everyone has a chance of participating in the global economy instead of just the local macro economy, which is peanuts. A dollarized economy will enable investments that are not crippled by the Central Bank load of currency conversion.

The trouble with your argument is that Bran and only Bran decided that he would be the leader. And he lied about it. If personal integrity is stupid, -- guilty -- I am stupid. I just want a leader with a stable moral compass, and lightweight BranFlakes een it!

The first thing that the DNA must do, is own up to the lie that Bran told, that he was initially & democratically elected as leader of the DNA. Bran has already emulated the PLP by being a stranger to the truth and transparency. They may have held some kangaroo court elections recently to ratify him, but he did tell the BIG LIE to the press a few years ago. To me, that disqualifies him for the top post in this country. It would be like Greg Moss saying that he is democratically elected to lead his party as well. Bran is a dissident FNM and he is out of his league.

This is the guy who calls himself "Bishop" even though his religious affiliation organising body has no rank of bishop. Just another poseur. Doesn't the Bible say *"Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's"* , meaning that religionists should stay out of the business of government?

*Under Queen Victoria in the time of Oliver Twist, the hierarchical society was composed of the upper class on top, followed by the middle, the working and the under classes and inequalities between classes in terms of working and living conditions, wealth and education were undeniable. In fact, in contrast to
the middle and upper classes’ grandeur and greed, the working class lived in “small overcrowded houses” administrated by upper class landlords and as
a result of the latter’s total absence of preoccupation for poor sanitation, fatal diseases and infections were present (Makati, 2008, p.22). Moreover, in spite of
their hard work, “members of the lower class were perceived as irrational, immature, superstitious, brutal, excessively sexual and filthy”. In 1834, in an attempt to reduce flagrant poverty among the poorer classes, the Poor Law Amendment Act was passed. Yet, instead of helping them, the act drastically reduced financial help and “made the impoverished suffer even more”.*

Ain't this the truth. The Bahamian contractors who bought into Baha Mar, will be poorer now with their meager take-it-or-leave-it pittance, are worse off than if Baha Mar had never started.

BoB is $40 million in the hole, it holds a worthless Resolve note as its entire capitalisation and it has other toxic loans on its books. Good luck with that investment. They are truly bankrupt.

Even if webshop money saves them, if they lose their correspondent banking connection (and webshop money will cause that), then their stock is worthless.

The big question is how much more toxic assets do they have on their books that they are hiding.
