I would suggest that you are unfamiliar with the government of the Bahamas, and the intrinsic and endemic level of corruption, cronyism and kleptocracy within its entire rotten structure. It is incapable of any discrete, intelligent action of any worth at all. It cannot even hold a referendum to give women constitutional equality, even though it has been promised for years.

Almost every single cent in the pockets of every Bahamian today comes from Direct Foreign Investment. Bahamians produce nothing of GDP value. The oft-cited polymers of GB are foreign investment, and the other biggie, lobster exports, has declined by over 50% due to climate change and over-fishing. Have you noticed that even conch is getting beyond the price of most Bahamians?

I compulsively think about this Baha Mar situation, because I think that it is a seminal moment in the acceleration of the decay of the Bahamas. I'm convinced that this is the work of the ineffectual, non-legal-mind work of the Attorney General. She thought about this on the plane ride home from China, and I am convinced that she blindsided Christie with this idea. Since Christie is not mentally agile and quite facile, it took no argument at all, and he saw it as a way to build up his self-esteem and payback for the Delaware Chapter 11. This is all about the Attorney General's ego.

The trouble is that the lawyers that Izmirlian can muster will eventually rub her face in this to the detriment of the Bahamas. I'd don't see a quick and easy solution unless China recognises that Christie and the PLP are the weakest link, and decide that their ploy didn't work, and change their game theory to cooperate.

This whole deal was entirely a business ploy on the part of the Chinese, that may or may not have backfired on them. But the government sees it as some sort of castration of their economic saviour and fiscal growth policy.

The reason why Tal and her PLP cohorts are acting the way they are -- so unpatriotically against the Bahamas and for the Chinese, is that the Chinese have flipped the switch, and now control all of the PLP rats.

The PLP are desperate. Even the feeble legal minds (which is all of the piss-yellow PLP lawyers) know that their actions will be overturned by the Privy Council.

It is a sign that the piss-yellow PLPs are desperate, and they know that Baha Mar is a the final nail in their coffin.

It is Christie & Co. that is destroying the brand of the Bahamas. This war of words is childish and un-statesmanlike. The Privy Council will back the Delaware court, but by that time, it will be too late, and Christie will have destroyed Baha Mar and the Bahamas.
