There is no comfort anywhere for a Bahamian patriot. It has been often said that the intelligence of a political party can be measured by taking the IQ of the dumbest member and dividing it by the number of adherents. Mitchell is proving it here. There is no hope -- you can't cure stupid. And to see Mr. Mitchell quote a known criminal is just plain sad. We are the laughingstock of the world.
As a secular humanist, it pains me to see the total waste of human capital in the Bahamas today, especially among the disenfranchised, unemployed youth. I know of athletes who have represented the country in sports in their youth who had to go on to selling phone cards to subsist before that became an unprofitable business.
Crime is a very visible symptom of a dysfunctional society caused by a dysfunctional government and a flailing state on the verge of failure. I applaud your efforts to bring notice to the situation, and hoped against all hope that there might have been a resonant tipping point that would create a ripple event that would cascade into a solution or a partial solution. After all, big doors can swing on small hinges.
I am afraid though, that the level of enlightenment among Bahamians of all degrees and stripes is very low and the capacity for altruism and patriotism is constricted, retarded and severely limited. Only a force majeure of a complete slide into anarchy will cause the people to think differently, act differently and use their vote wisely.
I see no way out, and the only way for a decent life, is to leave the country for a more level playing field and a higher standard of living. The sad part is that it is not an option for most Bahamians and the people who need it most -- the unemployed. There are no quick and easy answers or solutions, other than one brave political leader, filled with patriotism, willing to tackle a Herculean, altruistic task. There are none among us with that royal jelly, and so we will suffer.

The Chinese cannot be trusted, and neither can the PLP and their supporters. Perry Christie and company are debauched soul-destroying proof that poor breeding can go horribly wrong. The trip to China will prove that Allyson is a confoundedly ill-bred lecher and a heinous heart-sickening unspeakably offensive, anti-patriotic poor excuse for a human being. Bring back the only real leader, HAI to sort this out. History will show, that we will one day find the moral strength to tear down the Stalinist statue of Swindling at the airport, just like the Saddam Madass statues came down, and put one up for HAI.
