A certain member of our Real Estate Assets Valuation team calls this a "Lebanese Bankruptcy". In the city of our bank's headquarters, many Lebanese food joints get deeply in debt to the bank. The owners don't have a chance in hell of paying off the operating debts. To escape this untenable situation, they leave a pot of boiling oil on the stove "accidentally" overnight. The insurance money enables them to get out of debt.
The bottom line was that Smith was in arrears, didn't pay, and wouldn't pay until his name was published. And somehow BREA is at fault? This defies common sense.
Access to capital is a driving engine of the economy. With no capital, there is no growth. The reason why non-bank lenders like this situation, is that they can now get really high rates of inerest, and in the event of a default, they get possession of the assets. They are like the pay-day loan folks who charge an exorbitant amount of interest.
The lying snake fails to mention structural unemployment, the degradation of the second pillar of the economy, financial services, the reign of terror of crime, political kleptocracy and corruption and his own slimey dealings due to his political connections. The real victim here is truth and justice. And there is not a single patriot in the PLP who stands up for the country. They all stand in line with their pants down, waiting for their turn to rape it. And speaking of rape, you only have to go as far as the PLP chairman.
Someone put a muzzle and a leash on the speaker. The PAC has jurisdiction over all public monies, and not just what is tabled in Parliament. This is corruption at its stinkiest! If we had Freedom of Information, we would know who is providing the legal opinions. This government will go down as the second most criminal PLP government in the history of the Bahamas. The history books will have their say of the criminal sock puppets with no moral or ethical compass and not a shred of patriotism for this poor country.
All Right!! We need more of this kind of stuff -- a lot more. These are high paying jobs with a huge skillset, and have the capability of creating businesses and more jobs. Eventually one of these watchmakers will strike out on their own and create viable economic worth to the country.
Sigh ... another nail in the corruption coffin of Allyson Maynard Gibson. This PLP government is giving transparency.org 's monitoring a real boost to the corruption index in the Bahamas. Shameful !!
