And yet flights between Nassau and Toronto were full during the months leading up to the withdrawl of flights in January. Granted once Canada put the idiotic and useless 3-day hotel quarantine policy in place the airlines realized what business was available between the islands, mexico and Canada was effectivly dead for the forseeable future.
The honourable minister says "So something is going on there that we don’t quite understand...". Really???? I guess the minister has to be diplomatic and can't really call out the 800lb. gorilla in the room.
Whatever percentage of Royal Caribbeans passengers used to come ashore to Nassau/PI will now be reduced by 90% once this new Royal Beach Club comes on line. There is no way that the cruise line won't be promoting it to the detriment of Nassau and PI and that is 1000% guaranteed.
Covax is an organization, its not the vaccine itself. I'd rather get the Astra Zeneca than the Russian Sputnik vaccine, which even the Russians admit isn't as good as the others.
Pretty sure I read that you need your NIB card. If you don't have a NIB card you need some other form of government issued picture id, like a drivers license.
I would suggest there are more Bahamians not paying their property taxes until the property is sold than foreigners doing so. Most foreigners, especially Americans and Canadians are fearful that, as in their countries, the government would sieze their properties for tax non-payment, whereas Bahamians know that is not the case.
The original RPT digital portal was extremely easy to register on and set-up an account on and pay ones real property tax. It was user-friendly and reliable. The new portal, when it came online a few years ago and replaced the old system was a nightmare, for various reasons, to set-up an account on and use. It was a very opaque, not-intuitive jump-through-the-hoops process. I suspect many homeowners, especially foreigners, got very frustrated with it and left the digital system and went back to the old postal system of dealing with their taxes, which means delays in revenue-collection. And this year the whole Property-Tax digital site was down and unavailable for at least 4-6 months. It only became accessible and sort of usable about a month ago. Unfortunately even though you can now access your dashboard and get your tax-bill, the digital payment page is still throwing up a multiple error message. I've heard of people still using it and making successful payments but I for one am not at all comfortable entering my credit-card info to pay on a page that has errors and might not be secure. If government really wants people to pay their taxes then make it easy, safe, secure and reliable.
Exxon Valdez Mauritius Deepwater Horizon Ocean Ranger Piper Alpha .....and the list goes on. This one is kind of on point for the Bahamas..June 1979 Mexico's government-owned oil company, Pemex, used a semi-submersible drilling rig to create Ixtoc I, an exploratory oil well 62 miles off the coast of Campeche, Mexico. On June 3, the well experienced a blowout, initially leaking 30,000 barrels of oil into the gulf each day.
Took me less than 5 minutes to find these.
Just Google "oil spill Trinidad" and an impressive list of nasty shows up.
