@tribanon - We are all products of our environment, and whenever circumstances change people will change - some more than others. There are treatments for drug addiction which are not in big pharma's arsenal (no money to be made from it) - however it is very easy for addiction to return if a person is stuck in the same bleak or unmanageable circumstances which produced it. I did not assume anything about the gay transgender thing as it is a spiritual possession that will be sorted out by the Supreme Being. I agree with you on the GMO marijuana and I am against anything GMO, but marijuana is more useful and less destructive than alcohol. There is a deeper agenda afoot that has put all psychedelics off limits to the general public - even for traditional use.

@Topdude - You rant about the so called dangers of marijuana so much so that you give the impression of being rabid about your opposition. The root problem is addiction. There are many addicted to porn, gambling (casinos are a big attraction for our country), alcohol (which ages and destroys our bodies), night life-clubbing (which is immoral), gorging with food, giving seed money to the church as opposed to taking care of one's home, covetousness, other harmful prescription and more potent drugs, etc.. These are the ills of our society and if we can live a balanced life these may diminish to insignificance. Your energies could be best used to ensure that each one of us get to live a balanced fulfilling life in which we do not turn to crutches and become addicted in order to escape this bleak existence based on scarcity (capitalism).

Emergency maintenance equals something that should have be planned and carried out under the regular maintenance program was not done, and it has become critical and has to be done right away to prevent failures. Keep in mind that these are the folks who are trying to borrow hundreds of millions of dollars which we will have to repay. We are at a very critical time and the best have been politically sidelined for the mediocre. Shall we say... welcome to our demise.

Feeding people with imported food is not 'Food Security' it is a feeding program. Food security is being in control of producing our food which this program does not. And there is nothing secure about the food being given out as it is basically hurricane food ie nothing fresh nor nutritious. I have posted before how this type of food will negatively impact the health of its recipients. We are approaching even more challenging times, so this program needs a re-think and a restructure to provide nutritious food which will boost the health and immune systems of the recipients.

The chemicals in the hurricane foods strip our bodies of minerals and vitamins as our bodies detox from the included herbicides, fungicides, desiccants, insecticides, artificial colors, artificial flavors, GMOs and sugars. Also, in some cases mold poisons due to extended grain storage. The hurricane foods do not supply any significant replacement amounts of minerals and vitamins.

Either Ms. Larson knows nothing of nutrition or else this choice of foods is deliberate.

'Who wants to be terminating people going into Xmas?' Staff terminations are unfortunate but inevitable either before or after the holidays, as the merchants are chasing less money in the economy. 2020 is just the precursor, and 2021 appears to be bleak and the true start of the economic doldrums.

Mr. Rolle should take seriously the UN's warning of famines of biblical proportions. I urge him to look into the abnormal weather disruptions caused by a Grand Solar Minimum; perhaps there maybe a connection between the GSM and the coming famines.

@tribanon - evaluate our situation and options carefully and you will see that we are essentially a failed state; the Bahamas is asymptomatic at present but the failure is evident.

benniesun says...

Like I said sometime ago ... Christmas, New Year's , and 2021 are cancelled for the Bahamas. Our economic curve is ramping down steeply and there is no way to flatten that curve. All is lost and still no focus on cutting 'da govmin dem' salaries, and farming for food security. We seem to have no deep thinkers only mimics who simply copy what other countries are doing without understanding the consequences.

@ohdrap4 - I agree with you on this. Even if the virus exists it is not as deadly as the common flu. Economies worldwide are on the brink of failure and they are focusing on protecting the few compromised individuals instead of facilitating the healthy majority. Their approach is causing the healthy to become compromised thereby increasing mortality.

benniesun says...

It was inevitable that the Bahamas would get to this point; however, worldwide economic devastation seems about to begin in earnest. Food security should be our first priority.
