Fully agree with you Mr. Miller. You were correct on this one all the way back then which made economic sense to many of us.....but thoughts of immediate huge expolsions and shock waves from the almost immediate and inevitable explosion and tsuamanis ....tidal waves....that will wipe out the islands.....and the noxiois and poisonous fumes.... downwind ....and the owner of the island.....and how many people on that island...etc that the critics painted buried the project.

Granted that it is a coordinating process but after decades shouldnt they have gotten it correct??? It is time that some of those oldtime staff who still cant get it right be terminated and hire new staff who can. Majority of people should not pay for a few persons to make their lives hell.

Agree there are many businesses who take advantage of the people....the wealty take care of themselves and the poor are only known two weeks before election.
Many persons who get in problems with banks and other financial institutions have no protections as they cannot afford lawyers.....who usually do not go up against these institutions who have deepest pockets.
Ombudsman is needed, Financial Protection Consumer Bureau is needed, Anti Competiton Laws needed, Fair Bususiness practices needed, Anti Trust laws etcetc
As for the Governor of the Central Bank speaking of this causing a big positive cultural shift in the borrowingbhabits of many Bahamians.....well isnt he appointed by the govt himself??.?.and wasnt the Central Bank allowing the then unapproved web shops to deposit into the money supply through the govt controlled BoB....and perate not meeting bank requirements??.?.?. didnt the Central Bank people complained on fees ?? etcetcetc

Over Bahamian 4,000 mortgage accounts went bad because of the over zealous lenders, predatory lending practices, local bankers forced to reach extremely high loans targets set by foreign head offices in order for loan officers to get favourable employee assessment report in order to get annual salary increment, banks giving thousamds of dollars in bonuses for those who over sell, some gave SUV vehicles as bonuses, many ancillary services suffered, construction declined..billion dollars in loans defaults......and banks changed their mortgage application processes now more difficult.......because they caused the problem......not the applicant....who also paid a bank fee for their service...!!!......and the applicant to blame for bank neglience....and Credit Bureau which bank does...because it has your records.........what crap!!!! not one bank found guilty for negligence in contributing to the mortgage fiasco. simple maths can show negligence!!!
stop selling out bahamians to appease the wealthy, banks and basel requirements to rate Bahamians, .....certainly not the peoples time....!!!.

Its pretty obvious that there are not labour board inspectors in the hiringfreeze, the 10% cutbacks that all dept must follow.......to improve restore country credit grading........in the quest to try and balance the books....and extract funding to pay present salaries and funding for hospital etc.........labour board inspectors are needed in these extremely difficult times to investigate wrongdoings, unhealthy work conditions, worker abuses, violations of the Labour Act which are probably at their highest levels......etcetc....

Agreed a head count plus their NIB card and Drivers licence need checking.....cause one a dem looks like the Late great Famous musician from Jamaica.?....could be Jamaican.?.and a nodder one looks like Mr. Chea from down Carmichael road....not to mention the chinese from luckys....some could be Bahamian cause chinese been in the Bahamas from 1879 or before if you look at dem pirate movie.....then again some people say native lucayan, arawak all walk some bridge an come to Bahamas before everybody else.......

The information is already in the various computitle systems ....business firms who have data banks.....and at the Real Property Tax assessmrnt office...how else do they know who and whose PO Box to send the notice to and ownrrs correct yhem cause everyone gets pissed off with an unnecessary bill.....plus Lands and Surveys knows.....plus if you put a dozen people at the Registry you can sort out book and vol ..page numbers......for decades it has been known of land disputes....but then again why hurry to fix it when additional money and fees can be made fo all parties banks, buyers, sellers, dower claime, quietings, wills, fraud, adverse ,insurance etcetc.....dats plenty of business that lawyers gan miss out on .....

Yes we do need investors.....we offer them opportunities for both of us to prosper....politivians parley our birthright ... .....employment is created as things unfold ancilliary jobs are provided as employees buy products and services ....beneficiaries have money borrow from banks and profits leave country.....in between some investors inevitably make the error of playing politics openly or secretly and prolong the errors or deny the citizens rightful governance....

We could feed ourselves growing many vegetables in our yards but many have experienced too many tiefs....jonsers....vagrants....tiefing the fruits and vegetables getting the phone calls that tiefs are in the yard tiefing and it is not worth it bevause after that TIEFS then steal anything that isnt anchored down.....and ots a waste of time complaining so its easier to stop......many fruit trees have been chopped down all over because of tiefs coming into your yard tieffing.....easier to buy mangoes tomatoes, beans, spinach, limes, sours, bananas, cassava, plantain, corn, etc in the food store than having the tiefs.
solution would be to pass a law to flog the tiefs who tief your garden produce and encourage gardening feeding country project.....if not we continue ti import and live behind walls, barb wire, cameras, motion sensors, stores with barb wire on roofs and the horrible experience of having to race home from work....cause the now come in the hous....
