Bahamian voters have elected so many govts with overwhelming majority to deliver- except for the Ingraham govt when it was almost balanced but he still delivered.
However the utter wasteful spendings and hundreds of millions poured into finamcial govt controlled agencies without employees accountable, fired is glaring. So glaring that it continues and one imagines there must be an ironclad Nomenklatura of persons protecting others regatdless who is in govt.
While the good Doctor Sands was not in office before long term plans, projections, analysis to provide for future needs should have been mandatory and not wait until crises for solutions.
There is no excuse not to investigate officers who gave out bad loans, made bad decisions or denied others or victimized others. BoB, Dev Bank, NIB, every govt ministry and agency. 10s to 100s of millions should not be poured into these areas while the govt has to borrow 100 million for BEC and theres no money for Dr.Sands to do his job.
Given this historic unprescedented Parliamemtary majority voted for and won much is expected to be delivered.

Darn! Oops..
I forgot that a person might have been illegally employed or accumulated finds for the past number of years but may have only received a valid work permit for the current year.

I am only attempting to suggest to Banker a hypothetical answer to his/her hypothetical query. We just dont seem to have white collar crime except for the BPL investigation banker charged and an employee of an academic institution alleged to have dealings at some four banks.
Now one area I imagine needs checking is the some 20,000 plus annual work permit holders who need to show a current valid work permit- no photocopy, job letter, two current pieces of picture identification one being a valid passport, a current utility bill showing the place of residence address, currect NIB card and or any other proof required etc that the sourcefunds, person is legit., this is only an opinion.

If the person is arrested then full investigations should occur and corrective measures taken to correct the fault with the usual checks and balances.
Next on the someone else paying restitution for the fraid person to avoid jail, well that is standard in banking hahaha- therefore little or no white collar crime and the fraud person already is bound by secrecy contract and being smart will negotiate a general reference letter and move on.
On the AML/KYC well as the secrecy confidiantiality contract employee/employer is in place noone else knows and no phishing allowed so who is going to know??

BPL has obtained a near 100m line of credit to allow it to buy new equipment and overhaul existing systems. Short term financing from 'one of the top finance houses' according to MinisterBannister in todays front page Tribune story by Neil Hartnell Tribune.

On BPL on target ‘for best summer yet’

@JohnDoe, very good observation, Same with Bank of the Bahamas just after being reelected and sitting on the govt side of the table pouring 166 million dollars into Bank of the Bahamas .
Politicians get into trouble not accounting for $50,000. Contracts not publicised rigorously examined but $166,000,000. .????And having known the many loans needing investigation etcetc And even senior officer Resolve commenting on asset value of loans.
Saying and doing are two different things.
Banks pulling out of critically important islands with businesses catering to importantTourist centres and much worse depriving or creating hardship for Bahamians workers of financial services to feed their families is truly appalling!!!
Dont the higher ups in foreign countries making these decisions not know that the Bahamas is not one land mass and Longislanders and Bimininites cannot drive over to the next location???

Despite the billion dollar bad mortgages debacle crippling many vustomers, businesses, tying up funds and govt feeble mortgage relief of 20 million of public funds, 4000 mortgage account holders defaults and with most mortgage accounts joint affecting 8000 persons and families no investigations.
AND govt acknowkedged aggressive lending by mortgage companies there has been no investigations. Truly disappointing that govts wait until cathastrophe happens repeatedly before some govt with testicular fortitude to investogate and take measures to correct.
Very easily proven that many loans were marginal and doomed to failure even though banks and with excessive use of Mortgage indemnities insurances allegedly even issued by one institution even though they had no legsl licence to do so and partly responsible for calamituous shareholder value collaspe.
Before sending customers on long trips 20 year mortgages authorities should ensure they have a fair chance to arrive safely.
Already one entrepreneural firm has been winning cases for clients from these faulty mortgages and which is likely to accelerate. Banks are already taking correvtive action.
Investigations are needed.

'....but what if the Minnis administrayion offered Haitians a blanket amnesty...' versus '...in this particular case the evidence is solid' according to your views. Now dis particular case I has no problem with that a thorough investigation be done in dis particular case and the chips fall where they fall.
Now on the comparison of JeanRomy smoking pot at age 16 and sent to jail being or is as Bahamalander qualified as the PM is, or the director immigration. Well what is Bahamalander?
You are very good here Tal as you have now raised a very interesting point on Criminal Record, which lrads to different crimes as it related to Citizendhip Applications...?

Stop the jokin on blanket amnesty pls. Haiti has 12 million population sitting some 30 miles from our southern border and the stories done mention there are others in Haiti who are in s similar Rony Jean position and Mariel boat exodus would be a joke.

2013 International report on trafficking and illegals estimated ip to 50,000 illegals. DNA in first campaign indocated some 100,000.
With a population of 375,000 some 13% to 26% of our unofficial population illegals VERSUS the United States with some estimated 11.4 million illegals some 3% of its population. Turks has a similar situation as the Bahamas.

If the United States the most powerful country a melting pot of diverse celebrations have a problem with 3% illegals - border wall, govt trillion dollar shutdown, changing rules etc and The Bahamas with a poorer evonomy, distinct majority cultural group- best junkanoo in the world, official english language with 13% to 26% illegals then its obvious who really has the bigger challenge.

PLs dont do there wid any talk of amnesty because we no parle creole cept 'vin parlo' ?(dey comin - used when Immigration shows up in the neighbourhood)
