..because over the years there is a nomenklatura or as one politician said both sides of the same coin. Politicians may change every 5 years but the ministry remains the same.
Nrcessary changes needed is in financial agencies where ot seems obvious lending pllicies were not followed but somehow the show goes on and more money is poured into agencies.
Actually some time ago he put forward a possoble solution to many of these challenges in that we should think about becoming a Repbulic.
Voting for President and voting for elected offocials. Having the powers to settle matters without having to have Bahamians educated by masters law school in UK and then coming home wearing their attire and then having to run back to them pPrivy Council for answers
We have been voting for MPs and the party. We may have a brilliant MP but a party who follows the leader and get left so the republic for the indovoduals get representd versus the current system listems to the majority.
Then the 5 yesr wait and everybody votes the side out and the opposition consists of so few that with limited man hours may find it difficult to do for their constituency etcetc who unfairly suffer. Then again its followong the party line the entire side who may be Nassaucentric developnent versus the only 2 MP from a family island still needing basic water supply.
Some of Fwred political comments are actually very appealing while some are not.
Recent incident now quickly overtaken by events is that the president ofthe Arawak CayAssociation 'warned officials about "illicit activities" and solicitations at Fish Fry, but claimed the complainys fell on deaf ears.' see todays tribune page 5
Law enforcement to serve and protect the people and nation enforcing laws written is not a policy. IT does not matter who is in charge.
Law enforcement are trained educated and should know the law. Heads should roll its either the job is done or not done.
reducing crime every second or any time is not a fmn, plp, dna, or the nomenklatura policy.
reducing crime is the responsiblility of all law forcement agencies, any govt and the people every and all times.
everyone who hires illegals, harbours illegals, white collar, tiefing can corn beef to committing fraud in financial institutions govt corps etc, victimizing, tinted car windows, tiefs, murders, rapes, dont pay child support, or any crime etc must allface the constant enforcement of the law, govt and people every and all times.
Actually in todays guardian the businesses are blaming the scanty police presence. Regretably persons in highfalutin positions want us to be like Singapore but I have never seen or heard or read of any persons charged with littering, spitting, or the regullar urinating behind the car or tree looking nonchalant as though people aint know wha ya doin. Ive done my part by blowing da horn and play I waving to someone a few angles next to them and see dem turn and pee up dey shoe. Try it next time ya see dem peeing.
Well the FishFry businesses have now come out in todays guatdian blaming the scanty police presence. True to form dey businesses aint going down by deyselfves truth be told
Actually here is a SINGLE person who has taken on VERSUS the ENTIRE sovereign nation, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas given its nomenklatura and through clever tactics has been able to get national attention for his cause. Notice how the word bulldoze is introduced and many of us cant remember the govt doing it in an illegal manner.
Have to give it to him that his tactics of showing up, having car window smashed on beach, showing up at Detention Centre and all events capptured on film for the press.
Excellent guerrilla tactics and legal strategy against whichever govt that he must be given credit. Like him or dislike him, you must give him credit for consistantlly fighting his battles.
Many individuals and even large thousand plus strong pressure groups have come and gone and compromised, sold out, quit, collected all the food they were able to take away etc but this man is still fighting single handed for his cause regardless whether it is against the majority who dont want colonization by 12 million strong Haitian nation some 25 miles from our southern border.
Two sides of the same coin or 'nomenklatura' which is the term combining both in that no matter which side there is cohesion by way of family, business, social group, from the same island, bin to the same school, from the same neighborhood that the many layers are like plywood, extremely strong. Progression would be with the unhappy getting larger and larger hence the wide swings in voter pattern, election results or whay some say that a porty is not voted in but voted out. This does no good as there isnt an effective opposition by way of man hours, research, rebuttal so the cycle repeats
So far lots of pr and rebuttals from Govt officials but what measures and efforts to prove and reassure by the actual businesses?? Their silence is very loud as if in agreement with the govt or are they afraid to talk ?? Do they pay any fees??
Creating such volitile inflamatory statements seem to be a clever ruse to raise obvious reaction in order to take to the international press for international condemnation
Powers of the politicians to bestow titles and entitlements to persons really need to be examined. Former Prime Minister should be asked to comment on all these pronouncements.
