Eye weeping tears....by majority seeing Govt wastages, massive cost overruns 2x - 3x on govt projects billions of taxpaying dollars funds like incl buying land plans in Palmetto to build Clinic an just have half mountain graded down, massive clinic in Cat Island, roadworks in Nassau, Bahamasair jet just bought and old and not meeting FAA to go to Miami passangers turn back, water treatment plant Gladstone rd, massive baseball stadium improperly,18 million platform for PMH for billing etc, govt buying Freeport Chinese Hotel and paying off employees under Chinese, list can go on and not even listing doing works that would make the govt money....billions $$$$$.
All these billions just wasted, massive cost overruns, opportunities not taken would have Billions if prevented wastages would have had economy turning over creating, enabling businesses like Taylors and Cavalier to survive.
Going to the root of the sadly unwanted babies must have been foremost Catholic education starting in Church and in other Religious Faiths especially there seems some 3,000 buildings, groups, meeting areas etc claiming to be such and tax free benefits accorded to them in return to being a respected much dependant pillar of society learning the youths.
.............should also have included the some 50M the govt boughts in BOB rights offering, noone seems wanted to buy further in investment years ago and the more continuous event of Govt buying the old known as Phil's building on Gladstone Rd. but there after decided it was unsuitable and secured rental building for Post Office facilities from former Cabinet Minister. An aspect of likely and further expense is lawsuit relating to previous Govt relations to have Post Office across from the Independence round a bout. The Phil's building seems to have from a Crown Land parcel that then evolved or morphed into the structures thereon etc.
Cost overruns by both govts, both parties sitting in Parliament Assembly across the same table. BOB-see Nassau Guardian Friday, October28,2016 Business Section. "Resolve loans were only worth $22.5M" . BOB- see Tribune Tuesday, October 31, 2017. "Gov't pays '3x' value of BOB's toxic loans".
Horrible., horrible horrible. Break yer heart. There just a lot of increasing anger, poverty, hopelessness, broken family, misery, hoodwinking, supporters of blatant wrongdoings, just winding up more and more.
Time ago there was very fine culture and broughtupsy doings. No even striking a female, male opened the door for the female, elderly, male getting up their seat to allow female an young an elderly to be seated, no arguing in family, no hanging clothing undergarments to dry in the front yard, neighbours look out, no bring forth chillin without fathers with little girls, plenty cohesive broughtupsy. Females too has impeccable upbringing. All used to look up to the fine roles of pastors, lawyers, politicians, business leaders.
Now sad times, fragmented society with different groups on tiny island, diminishing society role models, well being jus slipping through the hands of those who have opportunities to lessen and prevent it.
Many thanks to the Canadians for having technical and other teams here on how their teams can help. By now after surveys the Engineers would be scratching their heads with their pinky fingers with the iron rings made from the Quebec Bridge and wondering how in the world did the Bahamas Government allow all these illegally constructed Shanty towns to exist and to grow for decades. The Engineers will still see illegal Shanty Towns which have proven to still exist and be death traps as similar shantytown existed and now destroyed. And yes the foreign Engineers with their Quebec Bridge iron pinky rings will have to reconcile the illegal buildings and existance Stantytowns harbouring wealthy businesses cheap labour pool and children with the Bahamian Govt having the Court to stop its destruction of the illegal built and dangerous to life Shantytowns. Best of luck foreign Engineers and many thanks to you and teams being here.
The Head of the Central Bank is making these statements that are picked up and the world and nation is guided by. These statements are to give comfort and instill confidence for all.
@moncurcool, yes you, we and public and international community all know that the majority of businesses, islands with high unemployment etc, barely hanging on in affected disaster islands were almost mortgaged to banks and other financial institutions and at the bottom of the insurance policy is the bank or lending listed as "Loss Payee".
Added to events that repeated flooded areas are likely to be restricted going forward without being rebuilt so we have to listen to the leading Governor of the Bahamas Central Bank no whatever he says. Lol.
BPL Chairman admits "We've Lost Trust Of Our Customers"
Given the tertiary education and his understanding, it is unquestionably next for his resignation. The fact that he made it plural indicating others, they too, is expected to resign. For ages people have been told that "customers are always right" and another common saying is "customers are the ones who pay your salaries"
Thank you Samaritian's Purse and US Congressional Delegration and all other US Agencies, Canadian Agencies and many many others in assisting and continue to assist our country in these times. Again, thank you.
Extremely extremely sad. News passing on and on and on throughoit small tight knit communities now nationally extremely distressing !!!!! Persons, anything, that can access to or have others seen the gravity and stop trajedies disappoints, and billions of dollars talking about everyday. Very sad
