Despite having spent all those years the man is more than qualified. Only thing lacking is a PhD. I may be wrong but this could also signify a reality that exist throughout the public service, persons lacking the necessary qualifications to elevate but want to. But I could very well be wrong in this particular case.
A parents God given responsibility whether single parent or father and moth household, is to teach their kids right from wrong, a good example to the kids on how to live as a respectful , civilized, productive citizen in society. Sad though, even with the best efforts some kids still run afoul of the law.
If ever that should happen as a parent I MUST be able say I did ALL I was supposed to grow my child up the right way. Thing is, a good good number of parents have NOT lived up to their responsibility! They are extremely permissive allowing their kids to watch what they want, play violent video games, cuss in the front of their kids, beat one another in front of the child, let their kids roam all over the place unattended, toddler and up! You feed your mind with porn soon enough you want to act it out. Same way, you play violent bloody video games, violent TV shows, you build an appetite and eventually you want to do it.
A channel 13 commercial plays back in my mind often, " Parents do you know where your children are?". Parents, do you know what your kids are watching, who they're associating with, what type of music they're listening to, what example are you providing for your kids, are you correcting your kids, what are you really teaching your kids?
Parents start paying more attention whether single parent or not, you'll see some changes. That's our job, not the police, FNM or PLP or church. Until then we will continue to see the things we see happening today.
Solid families make strong communities, Good well trained kids make good and safe schools Solid families make good church
Civil servants are well aware that when they arrive at a certain amount of years of service and depending on their age, that they could be asked to retire or prepare to retire any day, some agencies 25 YOS some 30 YOS. So I do not see anything political about this but some of the commenters here seek to make it that way.
Not allowing the process to take place in a timely manner clogs up the system, stifles growth and upward mobility and causes well meaning, well trained and well qualified younger ones to leave pre-maturely for other opportunities.
I don't see anything sinister about the moves. These officers have all been very busy and have done well. Time is time though. There is life after these jobs and all of us just have to prepare well for it including, succession planning which 99.99% of these places do not have and I'm forced to believe it is by design. You wonder why when Bahamians go to college they dread coming back home.
This story lacks clarity as to how they arrived at the accusation of theft. Is it because they are using generators instead of Freeport powers source? Is that against the law? Or did the electrician run a wire to the establishment after the power company cut the electricity off? Mr/Ms editor please clear this up. Thanks.
The problem is when you stop giving a rats but about how people do this or that,,or in this case, dress, issues are created. They bring the same attitudes in the workplace. Try it in other countries and see what happens.......That's why people feel they can come to the Bahamas and do whatever the they want to do.....because this is the "Bahamas"....Go ahead put your phone to your head when you clearing US customs at the airport....Bet you wouldn't try it.... Sometimes I wonder how some of yall be thinking!!!!!...smh...smt
Please purchase a ladder fire truck that elevates in the air about 100 ft. It is difficult to extinguish a fire from the ground with flames coming from the roof of a high building and standing on the ground. The only thing you can wet is the boxing. There are many other taller buildings in Nassau. And please buy more air tanks for the firemen video footage shows a few of them fading away in smoke but with no air tanks. Cancer is already a serious problem in the Bahamas and these men/women are too exposed. 2018 fire engines shouldn't have to be running back and forth for water. Get vehicles that only hold water, at least 4 or 5 thousand gallons. Off duty firemen cannot make it anywhere soon enough in Nassau to be of assistance especially on a big weekday morning. Recruit more firemen.
Folks it amazes me how everyone gets in a tizzy about whose buildings is rented.
1. The staff need to move NOW! 2. For the old phils compound to be refurbished to suit the operation is costly. Independence shopping center would present the same challenge. 3. They need appropriate space and parking 4. On an island 21 x 7 where the options are extremely limited, they shouldn't rent the space because the owner is a member of parliament???? 5. What are the other options? To build another building takes time and as was mentioned by truetruebahamian, even if they built a new building governments track record for maintaining their buildings is dismal. If I owned a building that would comfortably accommodate the "Main" post office,(not a sub post office), Id be upset. He has the space. So what da heck?
