My father (Vernal Lee) was one of the first Bahamians to receive the Paul Harris award. He was dedicated to the Rotary cause, and if I can say one thing about Mr. Rassin, he exemplifies the profile of what a true Rotarian should be. It is an HONOR for The Bahamas to have had a fellow Bahamian head this International organization as it's president for one term. Mr. Rassin is also right in his determination to bring The Club into the 21st Century. In my opinion, he has done a great job in his term and I know my late father is looking down with great pride on Mr. and Mrs Rassin.. Job well done!
People like Mr. Cartwright and Mr. Parker deserve ALL of the accolades that The country can lay on them... They have helped countless athletes obtain greatness....
Yes but that is Nationalistic and not Racial as is the chant is in The U.S.; as it is NOT specifically a white person saying that to a person of color...
THIS my friends is a classic example of a national emergency, and should be addressed as such!!! How LONG is this going to be allowed to go on???? no electricity. every day!!! In this day and age?? no no no This is NOT good enough!!
There is a constant sad thing being continually said when these things happen. The ambulances either do NOT come, OR take SO long that victims have to be taken to the emergency rooms in private cars... WHAT and WHY does this ALWAYS seem to happen? Why can't a few ambulances be ON CALL and READY for ANY type of medical emergencies...??
With the advent of the computer and associated accounting softwares, it is quite easy to produce spreadsheets and reports on budget and actual expenditures for any given project, event or trip... And it can be done real quick as almost all of the spending are with Credit Cards or cheques.
Reminds me when a couple of years ago, I was on a flight seated next to an expat engineer from BEC. He said that he was taking a "new part" that cost them $250K to be fixed. Said it was purchased as "new" under the politically placed head of the Coporation, when (obvioulsy) one could easily see by the wear and tear, it was not. Also said that he was hired to teach PM to the local engineers at BEC but while they insisted that any training had to be done during work hours, only one third to a half of the people would show up for the training that was set up for Friday afternoons...
Hello; My name is William Lee, and I shall state initally that Gina Knowles is my cousin. Why is it that a lot if Bahamians feel the need to put each other down? I feel that the heading of this newspiece is all wrong, ("why did a few civilian divers do what the authorities could not?") That was not the point, OR their mission. It was simply a group of well meaning bahamians that got together to help out a family that was missing a lot of answers to questions regarding the tragic fate of a loved one. i might add that some of the people involved with this search also arrange the collection of dontaions to family islands hit by violent hurricanes, AND the planes to take the donations to them, I can say for absolutle certainty that they do not act to "shame the RBPF, or BASRA, or whatever group might or should be involved in this search. Yet so much of the comments that I read were written to criticize what this group did.. Gina, I say to you "cuz" and your husband and the volenteers, that I am SO SO proud of you.. I can only wish you all the best, and pray that people like you and your firends and the rest of the family will ALWAYS stay concerned for your fellow Bahamians and help them as and when they are in need. I feel we can all learn something positive from this...
