Agreed. Its sad some would want it to fail, especially since it was created with the intention to be a stimulus to the economy. Could you imagine every single hotel room and every available rental car on the island was taken this past weekend and that is directly because of this event. What great news this was for Freeport, which badly need an economic boost. When was the last time that ever happened for the island?
The event was hugely successful. I was impressed by how enthusiastic the crowds were and equally impressed by some of the performances, specifically Sonovia Pierre. I'm super thrilled that it didn't flop, considering many wanted it to, which is so sad.
My sister and I wondered the same thing. Rigorous training and serious mental fortitude and necessary to undertake such a venture. We wondered if they were fully prepared.
What a bright shining beacon these young athletes are for this nation. I for one am thrilled at their success and wish them nothing but the best in their future endeavours.
So what about the so called parents? Do they not bare some of the fault? Is the government responsible for child rearing now? This is the most absurd post I have ever read on this site, and I've read a lot of 'em. Blaming the government entirely for the social ills plaguing our nation... I admit, they should bare some of the blame, but all? I completely disagree. Remember the old adage, "it takes a nation to raise a child". That means everyone, neighbors, the church, aunts, uncles, school, the gov't., etc. Education and teaching should start in the home. The social ills we face are as a result of the breakdown of the family structure, plain and simple. Children having children, and not teaching them how to be law-abiding, contributing citizens of the society. To blame the government entirely, whomever they may be, PLP or FNM, I feel is wrong.

He better not want to debate, because Perry Christie would've chewed him up and spit him out. He is no match for Perry Christie, in any form.
