Please get vaccinated people. The vaccines work. They do what they were designed to do — prevent serious illness and death. They are our only way out of this mess.
Too many Bahamians are wearing masks as chin guards and congregating without precautions. Take this seriously folks!! We need to bring the positivity rate down to have tourism again. Wishful thinking won’t work. Discipline and consistency will. We’re all in this together. Let's act like it. For the sake of our Bahamaland.
Many of my friends stateside have been tested and it's free. They go to a nearby walk-in clinic and ask for a test and receive the results a couple of days later. It's no big deal for most Americans.
Don’t you think it’s in our long term economic interests to remain a safe destination for visitors? Also for those who work in the tourist sector and every other resident? If there’s a major outbreak, everything gets locked down again. How can that be good for the economy? IMHO, a safe destination is good for us now and going forward until Covid is no longer an issue.
Are the tourists arriving between Jun 15 & Jul 1 required to have a negative Covid19 test before entering the country? There have been many arrivals the past three days. Have they been tested? How is this being enforced? Some of us are very worried about spread in small island communities ill equipped to handle such a situation.
So the parents are upset -- but a lawsuit? Really? Have any of the children apologized for their bad behavior that precipitated the cancelation? What about showing respect to those in authority? What kind of example are these parents setting for their children? Still scratching my head over this one.
Everywhere, as I go about the Bahamas, I hear people incessantly talking about numbers. Which ones they bet, which ones they are going to bet, which ones came in for somebody else. It makes me sick. All this jabber is a monumental waste of time and efficiency (most of it is done while on the employer's clock). And what a monumental waste of money! Poor, ignorant, superstitious people wasting the few dollars they have in the hope they will win big. And losing does't seem to deter them. Why don't they invest their time and money in developing self, family and community? With better odds for a positive outcome. Come to think of it, numbers may help explain the less than stellar work ethic found in the Bahamas. Just a passing observation by a Bahamian who doesn't play the numbers.
