If the government writes a blank cheque to keep covering BPL if no one pays their bill, where do they get the money from?
A second Customers who Do Not Pay Subsidy Bond fee attached to every BEC bill in the future?!
If three is to be any integrity to the idea we are going to use less electricity and burn less fossil fuels and keep the 1:1 dollar peg, people just have to pay their electrcity bill.
If its too much, then perhaps we need to think about bankruptcy for all BEC/BPL debts and then a private owner can start over with a clean balance sheet to keep costs affordable. This can not go on. The end customer can not soak up endless "bonds" to cover things of the past.
The public must make clear any oil exploration is unacceptable. Besides an exploration well can be the most dangerous, as the pressure is so high eg. its been building since the time of the dinosaurs. The BP Mocando oil disaster in the Gulf was on exploration NOT production! They capped the well, and the concrete did not hold. It would have made no sense to cap a well that was in production.
Cruise ships recycle air so 1 person infected can infect others so easily!
They are a floating trap for persons to infect other persons as everyone is so close anyway.
We should have closed all of our waters to all cruise ships and sadly we and the rest of the world is just learning what a horrible invention the cruise industry is.
Lets take a viable land based hotel industry and offshore it to foreign workers and companies that pay no tax and have no connection to the Bahamas thru the cruise industry? Great idea right?! LOL
It would put the Bahamian economy into total depression for years and collapse the dollar peg and put everyone in financial ruination if there was a spill. Mexico had a giant spill, the US did years ago too, and even Canada did too! There is no chance we could outperform the regulation and inspection regimes of all of them and have nor risk.
Only place in the world this ever worked was Norway. Odds we will follow Norway versus odds we follow all the others and almost none of it ever sees the common man? Pretty near 100%
Where is the confirmation we have pulled out of the Paris Agreement on Climate which would allow for us to increase fossil fuel use/production and start oil drilling? Can someone point me to the ink where this exit of Paris has been officially communicated?
So if the last chance is gone, why is selling off BPL not on the table?
If its not sold to a private buyer what guarantee is there the public just won't continue to pay for yet more mistakes at the huge price per KWH they pay already?
What more evidence could one need that BPL is better off sold to a long term utility owner who can run it on strict commercial terms and be accountable to a utility board?

Congrats to the government and BPL for finally getting solar going.
There should be a law any storm damage to fossil fuel power plants must be rebuilt with solar!

Oil sure did wonders for the Venezuela economy didn't it?
How about we watch from pristine beaches and enjoy a tourist economy and we skip the alternate hell of oil soaked beaches and a ruined economy. Deal?
