I like President Obama and think it is the right thing to do ,but this is going to knock the sh#t out of us ,the Cubans are not checking for any 15% on the bill and will be smiling and giving great service for that yankee dollar
No government ownership of BEC ,,no private company will buy it , there is nothing of value to buy and only a gigantic fuel debt that we the public will eat ,let a private company build ,own and operate a new effiecent power plant and guarantee a certain rate ,although i bet the companies bidding are not running to put 500 million into the Bahamas w/ the news of Cuba opening ,,
Right away privatize BEC and get rid of the automatic 15 % gratuity .If we lose 20% of our US market share to Cuba we can,t pay our civil service ,,crime and poverty will explode ..
I,ve worked as a waiter ,bar tender and i dislike the 15% ..I give good service and average more like 20 to 25 %..Too many times people will say "oh its on the bill" and you make less .. I,ve also worked in the US and there you don,t pool tips and the waiters tip out the chef/cooks busboys ,,much better ,these guys don,t even realize you make less and the mandatory 15% promotes bad service
At least we got roads when the PLP was screaming that the job went a 100 million over ,what did we get for this 100 million ,not sh@t .On top of that James Smith and others will get nice pay checks to fumble around at the scene of the crime ..
The PLP could not get the airport deal done b/c Bradley wanted all the food concessions ,,Ingraham got it done , Yeah the PLP let let Sardi borrow the money from our banks to buy up cable beach ,it was Igraham who brought the Chinese in ,both partys have done good and bad ,rewriting history does not change it ,,
We have been trying to make junkanoo profitable forever ,spending millions sending groups all over ..2 days a year Christmas and New years w/ a captive audience ,us that is supposed to love it ,and strong arming the foreign firms to sponsor it and it still loses money .I say junkanoo is nice but if we did not have it not one less tourist would come ,they come here b/c of proximity ,sun ,sand and drinks ,,,etc ,,Our tourist are mostly white ,how many white people you see running to Trinidad for carnival ,,Stop wasting money let Junkanoo remain for Christmas,,sorry folks a billion dollars won,t create the next madi gras
