Oh how the worm turns! It wasn't that long ago that BEC wouldn't LET you install solar panels with a view to saving energy because it was a loss of revenue to them. Have they now seen the light? (No pun).
Whilst on the subject of plates: Why on earth do we have yellow numbers on a light blue background - just to be different? It is NOT an easy combination and difficult to distinguish after a certain distance.
The clearest possible colour scheme is black letters on a white background. The next most clearly legible scheme is black letters on a yellow background. Enough said.
I see - so now BEC is in the prediction business. Maybe, just maybe, they should stand outside the main office holding placards similar to those predicting 'The end of the world is near' - and that may just happen before BEC gets its act together!
An they want to add Value Added Tax? Pray tell me, what 'Value'? This is a company in dire need of a LOT of serious help. As for the chairman - the quicker he disappears the better.
Income Tax - a good option... Sales Tax - very doable... VAT - a complete disaster! Let's assume that a turnover of $100,1000.00 is what is required to register for VAT. OK, so far so good. BUT I wonder how many businesses with a turnover of less than that figure will go ahead and charge VAT even though it would be illegal to do so. As for cash transaction, well keep guessing!
So far the government has done absolutely nothing as far as I can see to educate the public with regard to VAT. It would be a VERY good start if a (truthful) list is published stating exactly what is taxable (VAT) and what is not. (A gallon of gas a couple of days ago was $5.58 with 7.5% VAT that would have been $5.998 - call it $6.00). I could go on but what's the point... Oh, and how about collecting outstanding Real Property Taxes and other outstanding bills BEFORE implementing ANY new taxes. Too difficult?
