…wouldn’t worry about that. “Approval” in this instance needs to be investigated by our legal authorities to see if any shenanigans were committed?!

I’m proud of UB today and fully support their stance.

We once had an administration who called themselves “the government of the sunshine”, we thought it funny then, however looking back through the ‘retrospectoscope’ even though it was a bit smudged, that administration may have been our most “transparent”. Prime Ministers must use their power for the good and be the avatar of good governance.

As we mature, we should strive to improve our governance. Bahamians seem to be on a path of electing ‘one term’ governments. The politicians should recognize that as a cue to perform at their best to facilitate another governing opportunity, not try to ‘get the most’ out of their single term. Where is the concept of bipartisanship? Ruling and opposition parties still only fight one another. This is illustrative of immaturity or dysfunction.

Forward, upward, onward together ✊🏽

This is a perverse incentive and will result in harassment of the public.

A perfect reason for the separation of church & state’🧐

While a discussion of abortion is welcomed it seems to me that both this minister, as well as the National Security Minister, misses the larger point; a young girl was raped. As such we have a young child in need of our care and support (and allegedly a mom who likely also needs our HELP).

Medical Termination of pregnancy has been widely available in the Bahamas for over half a century and hopefully will continue to be available to our women and girls; it’s their choice. The availability of pills has given women who are ‘early’ in their pregnancy a freedom of choice unhindered by an overarching Big Brother (or in the case of Ms. Rahming, Big Sister). That ship has sailed!

The ‘PHA’s Response’ to the Tribune seems to have confirmed Mr. Mark Cuhna’s complaints about the inadequacies of the RMH Blood Bank’s emergency and weekend coverage for blood procurement and distribution. The same is so for PMH Blood Bank, so it is indeed a PHA systems failure!

It is high time we have a national blood bank that serves the entire Bahamas, including both public and private entities. Duplicating services at the PHA facilities and Doctors Hospital is inefficient and results in increased morbidity and as Mr. Cuhna’s letter points out (allegedly) increase mortality. Local Blood Banking experts will tell you that our present “family & friends appeal for blood” is archaic and not the way it should be done.

This is a story worth exploring by the Tribunes investigative reporters because it could shine a light on a subject where policy changes are long overdue.

On Blood bank policy is a failure

Corruption and incompetence reign supreme. It’s really a shame. No excuse for this embarrassment. Politicians should resist the temptation to engage in familial and political nepotism and let the technical professionals do their job. We should follow the prescribed processes. Smart leaders use these processes and regulations to avoid compromising situations.

While every Bahamian deserves a chance at success it should not be dependent on which political party won the last election. Anyone receiving a government “contract” should have proof of a certain standard before qualifying.

Until we practice good governance we will not advance as a nation.

Kudos to ‘the Press’ for exposing this and more power for continuing to shine light on these practices; they do inform and they do matter.

Why are we spending so much time and resources, especially professional Custom Officers Human Resources on less than 10% of Customs revenue (items brought by Bahamian passengers through LPIA)???!🤷🏽‍♂️

Despite the fact that the Custom Officers have been helpful, supported by my family’s experience with them and this ‘App’, it was ill conceived. The design is much too granular, it asks for details that could never be covered (eg all the possible retail stores etc) and its ’roll out’ was rushed and not organized. It would have been best to start with a ‘Pilot’ program to work out the kinks before releasing on our populace…a clear sign that government is desperate for income! A word to government: create a budget and stick to it🤨

Another obstacle to Bahamians living a hassle free life🙄
