As the article suggests, this falls under the responsibility of the MoA, but as far as I know (and have observed in the past) the purview of the MoA is not to take into account whether animals in a commercial entity are kept in a "humane fashion" but rather to make sure that these businesses are following the basic "everyday" rules required to get a business license in order to operate.

The "humane" treatment of animals across the board in the Bahamas, appears to be generally left to the various animal-related NGO's that exists here (the Bahamas Humane Society, the Grand Bahama Humane Society, Baark, etc), but as the Tribune editorial of last Tuesday April 16th "You Can’T Get Lost In The Animal Rights Talk." Oh Yes You Can - And Must" points out, because the Animal Protection & Control Act has never been ratified/passed in parliament, then there is very little **legally** that these particular organizations can do in order to enforce the laws regarding the basic humane treatment of animals in our country.

I have observed countless examples both in the press and some personally - the various horse related issues in Harbour Island and Rock Sound in the past; the living conditions of many of our Surrey Horses here in Nassau; the condition of animals in some retail pet shop operations (one off Market Street in particular); and some animal-themed businesses like the one in question now - where the MoA has obviously gone along and approved these businesses in order to obtain a business license - the proprietor of Celebrity Eco Adventures clearly states this in a previous article. However, when it comes to the sorry condition of the animals in many of these particular situations, the MoA seems to have been mostly silent or paid basic "lip service" to these problems after an out-roar such as this occurs.

So I'm afraid that until the various governments of the day get serious and actually go the first step in passing this particular piece of legislation, in my humble opinion, these types of vexing issues will play out time and time again. .

Certainly not as bad as coming on-line and reading your posts.

Not sure if it really matters "where" the money is printed, once the printers get a directive from the government, then they just go ahead and print. Again, someone with more knowledge of our currency laws might better explain.

The Governor of the Central Bank is "appointed" by the government of the day.

That said, any government (PLP) that miscalculates our annual debt by a whopping 400% are either grossly incompetent or inherently corrupt or, in this case, both.

I agree 100%.

However, I also believe that this little hissy fit/B.S. rant provides us with an excellent opportunity to see if the PLP really has learnt anything from this massive ass whuppin'! Now is the time to see if anyone in that party, ANYONE, has the back bone, social conscience and intestinal fortitude to stand up to this bitter little man and say, enough with this stupidity, let's start facing the reality on why the Bahamian people rejected us so overwhelmingly!!

I "love" this part:

“persistent and unpatriotic attempt by the failed project developer to mislead Bahamians, detract from **the tremendous accomplishments made by** the stakeholders along with **government** in turning the project around, and to conceal the fact that BMD failed and then failed to recover from failure.”

Sounds like something written by Saddam Hussein's faithful minister of information/propaganda, Mohammad Said Sahhaf a.k.a. Comical Ali a.k.a. Bradley Roberts.

I have a question for Fred Mitchell and his PLP cronies? Why is it that.............

Bruno Rufa, the Canadian condo owner in Freeport, is locked up, deported, denied entry back to the Bahamas and is facing criminal charges for allegedly "engaging in gainful occupation without a work permit"?

But..........

Peter "scum" Nygard, the Canadian designer, (i) pays black Bahamians to dress up in white supremacist KKK outfits at our national annual carnival (Junkanoo); (ii) enlists local "gangster/hitmen" to take out the leadership of one of our ecological/environmental organizations (as witnessed on video); (iii) send his local "boungy" boy (Keod Smith) and an officer of the law (who is gainfully employed by the Bahamian taxpayer) to another country to find "damaging" information on one of our Supreme Court Justices to use against her in his case before her; (iv) employs individuals to "threaten, intimidate and harasses" the son of said Justice; and (v) multiple other well documented criminal, nefarious and sordid activities while a resident of the Bahamas.......yet the only time the immigration department ever visits his house is to pick up a donation!!

I guess Rufa is a real "bad" dude and should be barred from ever coming back to our country!!

Wtf........
