The $20 million Inter-American Development Bank’s Citizen Security and Justice Programme is helping to fund the development the proposed system.
Based on the article, the money came from a programme through the IDP. They don't hand out money for fixing school roofs etc. Go look them up, read up on how they lend money.
Glad that this appears to be coming to an end. Now I hope that all of these Consultants will provide the level of service that the Bahamian people deserve. Does this mean that they will be spending less time in their private practice and more time tending to those unfortunate souls who are unable to afford their service? I wonder!
What Mr. McAlpine is doing is counterproductive. He does have a right to express his concerns however, I agree with Mr. Wells, there is a mechanism in place to air his grievances. He should use that avenue. His behavior last week was unacceptable and appeared more like grand standing than anything else. Why on earth would someone in such a charged political environment choose to defy the orders of the police? That could have gotten out of control real quick. Hopefully, if he continues to feel the way he does about the party, he will resign. After all, if an employee is unhappy with his employer and does not subscribe to the vision, he resigns and finds a new employer.
So true! If you were born here and did not apply at 18 then you have chosen your fate! I feel sorry for him, but people need to learn to follow laws. The sleeping giant (the Bahamas) is awake and we really can't stomach these immigration issues anymore!!
Oracle, you are correct! The enemy is US! We refuse to change the way we think and act. We love hand outs, hate accountability, could care less about the country's fiscal state as long as "we straight" and hate to pay for anything. So yes, we are doing it to ourselves. I applaud this government for at least trying to change the culture by doing things that 95% of us refuse to accept. It's a long uphill battle, but we have to change our mentality. We can not continue to maintain the status quo. I see where Dr. Minnis and most of his team are trying to take us and I want them to succeed so that we can get there. Sadly, 95% of us do not want to move in this direction!
Such an unfortunate tragedy. Let's pray that young Mr. Ferguson will be found alive. If not, may his remains be found so that the family may receive closure. My thoughts and prayers are with this family.
