Lets mix the issue up a bit. I'm a Bahamian studying in China. In my opinion Mr. Masons observation is ignorant and short -sighted. I say this because I study with Dominicans, Antiguans, Trinidadians, Bajans and Jamaicans and the one issue all of us have with Jamaicans is not that of the educated. Even an educated Jamaican will tell you there are certain Jamaican entertainers that they wish would just disappear because of their 'wutlessness'. The issue with Eastern Caribbean countries or even The Bahamas is that they allow the riff raff of their country to come to our country and create havoc. There is a movie called 'Third world cop' which confirms how Jamaicans think of our countries as a disposal site for their unwanted and corrupt. And we have stood firm and said either you be upfront and play above board or we can't play. As for Bajans, because of their attitude of Bajans first is why they have the best education system in the world and in the Bahamas we still trying to figure out whether or not we should postpone schools because of a flood. Also Antigua is one of the highest paying Eastern Caribbean countries with free government education and health services because they pay education and health taxes so they have almost the same problem as the Bahamas in that we pay taxes for these same things but everyone flocks to them for free help without consideration for Antiguans because of there geographical position and economic situation but in the Bahamas we dont make illegals pay this tax so its straining the system because those paying cant use. So I think Mr. Mason needs to get to the bottom of why Jamaicans are not liked before ignorantly lambasting other Caribbean countries who have not been bitten once or twice but many times by this 'brother and sister' culture isn't going to make Jamaica any better. Look at what happened to the Bahamas, when Haitians first started coming to the Bahamas they were educated and respectful and now those that come bring weapons and drugs and now 'amnesty international' has Bahamians labelled as prejudice towards Haitians. Everyone wants to be treated fairly in their own land and for that to happen Jamaicans and other Caribbean countries need to understand respect is earned not given.
