The PLP doesn't want foreigners to actually come to these shores. They just want foriegners to send them undocumented FDI$ and stay foriegn

Don't worry. Perry's got an excellent plan. Scaring away potential investors by destabilizing the rules of FDI in the country (every time one of them politicians has a brain fart that is) will get us on the fast track to currency devaluation. Then it will be 50% cheaper for foreign investors to buy real-estate here

PS - The average Bahamian right now is paying somewhere between 8% and 10% to borrow money and the banks are paying between 1/4% and 1% to put money on deposit. That spread is not sustainable and hard to imagine how the banks, central bank or politicians thought the economy was going to go anywhere else but up the creek without a paddle.

The government needs an economy to survive and an economy needs cash flow to survive. Poor people have given all their cash to the numbers boys with Perry's blessing. The rich and the crooked politicians have hidden all their cash in Switzerland and the only ones left doing anything for this country are the middle class, who are paying up to their eyeballs in outrageous mortgage rates for properties that have depreciated 30% to 50% in the last 8 years, so I welcome a drop in the cost of borrowing. Interest rates should have been dropped to much lower levels years ago in line with every other central bank in the civilized world. The Bahamian government kept interest rates high because it helps them with their debt problems but the result was to squeeze an inordinate amount of middle class borrowers in to default causing a complete economic meltdown. Wa La. Standard PLP economics. Stomp on the hand that feeds you.

These god damn nincompoops running this country just have to ruin everything they touch. Foreign investors want stability and consistency. Waking up one day and deciding to double the cost of PR is just going to send another wave of potential foreign investors to Panama or some other jurisdiction. Anyone that thinks this country is doing well enough right now to raise the bar for foreign investors to qualify for residency !? You are out of your mind ?! And you are a damn fool if all you got to worry about is some apartment owner raising the rent $170 while your elected representatives are selling the entire future of this country off to the Chinese. You wait till the PRC comes back and raises the rent on all of us brother

On Govt raises permanent residency mark to $1m

The PLP has done nothing but carry out and advertise it's crooked ways and the only people that respond to their calls for FDI are crooked people and China State is the most crooked organization in the world. Whilst the USA is implementing a global regime to stamp out corruption, the Chinese are preying on small weak nations with dishonest, greedy politicians at the helm. This is not healthy FDI that will provide employment for our children. They are not our friends. The Peoples Republic of China is here to take everything they can from us for as cheaply as they can and anyone doing 'sealed' deals with these guys should be labelled a traitor

Good thing he got so many foriegners running his business for him that he got time to talk about 'not enough good people'. Oh Lordy how it would be if everyone had to play by the same rules in this country

All I know is in 2008 my company made a net loss and Business License Department thought it was perfectly OK to charge me $12,000 for next year.......uuuum what does that add up percentage wise ? So I closed the company, put 15 people out of work and would never go in to business here again

On Bahamas taxes equal 34% of company profit

Failed lawyers spouting useless hot air at each other as if winning some pathetic argument about parliamentary bylaws is going to save this country from getting crushed to pieces by globalized corporate special interests and passive-aggressive empire states......

Mind you, what else would we have to talk about while the ship goes down ?
