The latest fees along with the upcoming VAT next year will certainly hit the average consumer. Foodstores will simply pass the costs to the shoppers, making the cost of living even higher. Ironically, the lower to middle income families who would have voted PLP in the last election, will be the ones that will be hit the hardest. Enjoy it.
Some people are really ungratefull. A private company s trying to help them, their MP is trying to help them and they are still not happy. Maybe next time they should be left alone, just to see if they can take care of themselves.
Nobody suggests that crime started under Christie. The fact of the matter is that he promised to do something about it,and all we hear are slogans, urban renewal, swift justice, march against crime and so on. Talk won't solve crime, actions will. All nations have to deal with different levels of crime. Is this an excuse to let it get out of control? May I remind you that not every nation depends on tourism like ours. So you may like or don't like foreigners(that's your business really),but whether you like it or not we depend on them for our prosperity.
Now that Mr.Mitchell has resolved all the problems in his ministry(including our illegal immigration problem) he can concentrate on other issues such as the editorial of the Nassau Guardian.
Investors will be glad to come here so they can deal with a xenophobic government that will dictate to them who they can hire or not and how to run their businesses. Is it any wonder that "our traditional friends don't want to lend us anymore?"
The minister worries about negative publicity. When last year his party was erecting posters all over Nassau with the number of murders in the Bahamas, negative publicity was not an issue?
@ Tal Russell.......Crime did not start in the Bahamas neither in 1992 nor 2002. So try to stop playing the blame game, because honestly there is plenty of blame to go around. Our education system is a mess, many young people really don't want to work, and many parents are failing their kids. Crime has been an issue for a long time, and unfortunately things will get worse, before they get any better.
Several PLP candidates, including Brave Davis promised 10,000 jobs right after the election. Now,all of a sudden it's not their responsibility to find jobs for Bahamians. "we never said that", We did not mean it like that" and one of my favorites " I am not aware" Go figure
