The history of our human race has been one long litany of warfare and conquest. Almost always it has been men who did the fighting. As long as men were prepared to fight and possibly die to defend their women and children then women quite rightly were expected to care for the home and family. Just recently things have started to change; women are more and more expected to take an active role in conflict and consequently the rule book that governed 60,000 years of human development is being re-written. Women, please learn how to fight and kill; men please learn how to wash clothes and mop a floor. Fair is fair.
ZNS staff have walked off their jobs? Great, mow lock the doors to prevent them ever getting back in again. A good start to getting rid of the thousands upon thousands of state employed workers who suck the wealth created by the private sector from our limited economy.
The country's fiscal problems began in 1968 with the coming to power of L. O Scar Pindling and the PLP. In each and every year since that time the governments have borrowed ever increasing amounts of money to pay the salaries of the thousands of state employed workers and the interest due on the previously borrowed funds. We are living in an economic fiscal death spiral. it is only a matter of time now.
This letter is thankfully not so full of hate, bigotry, and misinformation as the last one that he co-signed with the church person, but why these overly religious types feel that they have the right to push their limited viewpoints and prejudges on every one else is beyond me. Please keep your bigotry to yourself or at least to your church members. Thank you.
By definition members of a union are employed workers. Employees do not generally make strategic decisions; their role is to implement the decisions made by the upper management. Why do these union leaders think that they should be consulted about upper management decisions? They are not the upper management, they are the employees. The doctors are the ones in charge of a psychiatric hospital, not the patients, as the old saying informs us.
There seems to be some misunderstanding about the circumstances that surrounded the compensation monies paid to owners of slaves. To understand the factors involved you have to remove your thinking from 21st century social mores and morality. Most people today have no problem eating veal or steak; it , it be that in 100 years or less most people will be filled with revulsion at the idea, knowing the horrendous life a veal calf is subjected to and the cruelty of the slaughter houses. The abolition of slavery by the British parliant was a political decision as such it required lobbying, compromise, back room deals to get enough mp's to support the legislation. At that time, rightly or wrongly, people could legally own a slave. A slave was worth money. To get enough support for the bill to pass it was necessary to offer compensation for the loss of what up until then was propery that had a value. So it was a purely pragmatic decision necessary to achieve a desirable aim. I believe that the money was raised by the British government issuing bonds and these bonds have only just be paid off a few years ago.
In other news police officers were able mount a large operation that successfully removed a couple of dozen gummy bears with CBD from the streets. Does anyone else think that the state security apparatus is focusing on the wrong things?
Nothing can ever happen without it being part of God's plan. For some reason the Almighty allowed the aircrew to fly Bishop Munroe's private jet fly into this bad weather and crash. Why God caused it to happen will remain a mystery just like the sinking of the RMS Titantic or any other loss of life.
