The country is fortunate to have mrs. Kim Aranha and others like her. Many citizens and every administration we have had have had little or no demonstrated humanity. It took decades to just get shade for the poor overworked Surrey horses. An animal rights law to protect animals from abuse is decades overdue. The royal Bahamas puppy killing force should be ashamed of its actions.
These "National Honors" are mostly just a waste of time which is why the previous two prime-ministers could not be bothered with them. Save the country some money and retire all the committee members.
until the PLP got into power the country had a murder rate close to zero. Over the past half century or so since then the murder rate has increased every year. We now have one of the highest per capita murder rates of any country in the world. What was the pre-PLP government governments doing right that stopped murders from happening? Was it the entitlement mentality that caused the change to murderous, that was sold to the voters, you will no longer have to work once you vote for me? Or was that the country cut most ties with the UK, a country long known for politeness and civilized behavior? Perhaps the change is simply due to the modern junk food diet that most people now eat, junk in; junk out.
What a storm in a teacup. The courts cannot be held in any lower esteem than most people who have had the misfortune to have to visit them already hold them. A little qwerking would actually have brightened up the procedures last time I had to appear in the Traffic Court.
Belinda Wilson was only a teacher of Physical Education during her career which I do not think even has exams so I doubt that she would have much sage advice to offer even if the MOE had consulted her.
The unvarnished raw truth is that the pool of available Bahamian construction worker willing to work on Guana Cay and live in dormitory accommodation is just too small to get the job done. People might make noise and say that they want a job but the reality is that they would soon quit as the working conditions would not meet their exacting requirements. Any one who disagrees with my statement almost certainly has never undertaken a huge construction job in a very small family island.
This letter writer seems upset that our Bahamaland (sic) is being blamed for the rack epidemic in the US. As far as I can remember a huge amount of cocaine was trans shipped through our country and many Bahamians and government employees got richer from the drug smugglers bribes and payments.. Did not Bimini have huge amounts of US dollars suddenly appearing in the people's bank accounts, as reported in the Dailies at that time? Those US dollars came from somewhere, and it was not from Ponce del Leone's Fountain of Youth.
