This letter writer seems to have a strong bias against people smoking marijuana. There is no evidence that I have ever seen linking "smoking weed" to violence. There is however an obvious link between drinking alcohol and violence. The simplest solution to any given problem is often the correct one. Alcohol abuse, not weed, is almost certainly at the root of much of the violence we see reported each day. Alcohol lowers inhibitions while weed just makes you lazy.
The real estate business in this country has prospered like never before in the history of our country under a Democratic administration. This prosperity has not only enriched some few Bahamians but has also added huge amounts to the governments income through direct taxes like the Stamp tax and VAT on property sales, but also indirect taxes paid by the new ex-pat owners. It will be very interesting to see if the real estate market continues to thrive as it has been doing, under the new Republican administration. Time will tell.

As all students of history know in the 1934 Wehrmacht Republic the organization known as the Hilter Yout started out in just the same way. A populist leader is a prime requisite but then a sycophantic supporter is also necessary. In 1934 the homosexual drug addicted Himmler was key to the ONazi regime rise. Fred has learned lessons from history.
TALkingrustler; No is the answer to your last 2 comments. Izmirllian did not originally plan to use PRC financing, if I recall correctly that was after Covid hit. And secondly, check out Malaysia port and city project.
If CCA pay the compensation then it will like an admission of guilt and the company and it's principals will "lose Face". If CCA declare bankruptcy then the company may save from paying out but they will still lose face in a huge way. If I understand correctly they cannot appeal the verdict without putting the money or a bond. They are between a rock and a hard place. Would it not be great to know where that 2.1 million ended up?
