The letter writer asserts that; "Pindling was man enough to do it.". I beg to differ. Pindling had millions of dollars in his bank account that he claimed that he did not know where that money came from. IMO he only called the Royal Commission of Inquiry because of the pressure exerted by the USA & the UK. Who can forget the fear of one infamous cabinet minister too scared to leave Nassau in a boat in case the USA's DEA might arrest him. Perhaps you had to have been there and lived through those interesting times. Have such times come again? I don't know. yet.....
Bahamasair, it’s plain to see, . has insufficient planes to be, . A glowing example of the Bahamas, . Not showing itself as A Republic Bananas. . Twenty two million dollars each year, . No Bahamian could have created Atlantis, Bahmar, Alnany, Lyford Cay, Old Fort Bay, or a viable tourist attraction on Colonial Beach. Perhaps fLyingfish would prefer if the country had none of these existed and all the thousands of workers employed there were instead employed by the government getting paid by our taxes and borrowed money?
This is good news for the prospective employees. What has happened to the Bahamian entrepreneur who was so vocal in proclaiming what some considered to be overly grandiose plans? He was granted a lease of some Crown Land on Paradise Island but nothing seems to have happened, has he even paid the government the fees due on his lease?
I cannot agree with those who say that every Bahamian politician is corrupt and self-serving; not all of them . Over the past decades we have had several who stood for election out of a genuine desire to serve the country rather than as an easy way to enrich themselves. Like wise with the tens of thousands of government employed workers, not all of them are corrupt by any means. There are probably hundreds of workers who are content with the salary and non-contributing pensions, and do not solicit or accept bribes or "lunch money".
The old Bahamian saying goes like this; "Talk is cheap, but being related to a high ranking politician buys you enough influence to be given a large grant of Crown Land free and clear. " Have I remembered that correctly, or was it "money buy land"?
"Shot in the back of the head."? Well, obviously most all of us have accidentally shot someone in the back of the head; probably several different people several times......sigh.
The Bahamian sport of “Tossing The Mace”, . Can cause those who govern to “lose face”. . Whether Shades of blue, or shades of red, . The cause lies on the Speaker’s head. . No longer a thing of Black or White, . Flag waving Adrian doin’ what’s right. . The Speaker should show no bias at all, . Otherwise that government might just fall. .
