This is a huge property anybody can get in to the retail area, but with all the commotion created by the glass breaking (multiple as stated) how the heck did they get off property? I’d assume the second the first smash happened, Security would have been notified, which include canine units, one would think they could be stopped before they got off that vast property

OMG, I got through only half of this article before I was so frustrated I had to stop. I’ll make this very short.

- How much pork and corruption where A) in the budget and B) Sifened off/out.

- What professional running and in positions of power in any company would be ignorant enough to not know that a year over year budget and profit and/or loss would change based on a dramatic change from business like Baha Mar

- Why are we being told what the year over year financial and percentage deficits are, even I knew that would happen, so budget accordingly.

- since one would assume you knew this was going to happen, why do you have to “Tighten your belts” A) did you waste money last year B) Did you not save money (what a concept) to float the following years of decline so you amortizing those profits C) why was there a hemorrhage last year when times were good that now you have to tighten your belts when things are back to “Normal” without the Baha Mar business.

Seriously, I could go on but said I’d keep it shot and still didn’t really.

Peace out.

In many different areas of this post/statement the Minister keeps referencing that the intention is not to make large profits, and that the main intention is to enhance the visitor experience and efficiency in which the area is run and other statements to this effect.

That is not an incentive for private business who last time I checked are in business to make money and not to make things more appealing for others.

And when returing to the Bahamas, Bahamians have the same Kiosk system and move through expedited and/or short lines while all none Bahamians have to wait in lines that zigzag far back which during peak hours can be up to an hour just ro reach the same rude, no facial expression stamp and move on like cattle attitude Immigration officers who abuse heir power, god forbid you ask them any question, you barely get a look let alone a smile as if your bothering them................. Whats your point!?

SO we’ll said “Themadhatter” I was going to say the exact same thing about Sharia Law and Burqas!!!! This idiot “Father” Palaciuos, if you can call him a father vs some other Muslim religiois monocuer Of choice, how can you even suggest in a “Catholic” / Christian country that any bad and unacceptable sexual behavior by a man is the responsibility of the woman, he has no clue what Sharia law is or any worldly knowledge beyond his small island life. This is 100% the value of Sharia and why they have to cover themselves, somehow even if they are fully covered it’s still their fault. The concept of a man being able to grope, rape a woman and he is the victim while the woman gets prosecuted for tempting the man and misleading him (Sharia) is sickening and the fact that a “Father” in the Bahamas has this rhetoric in his heart, should be disbarred of his title.

I agree with some of the other comments about why train a Bahamain to take over your job. Incorporate the Bahamian into the company yes, but please in many cases where expats in senior levels come to the Bahamas either to work for an established company or start a new one, many take many many years, a decade or a lifetime to acquire the skills and experience, seriously, train somebody in a year.........????

I agree 100% that there are far to many “unfit to be on the road” vehicles on the road. While importing used cars is part of the issue, which can be remedied by stricter importation laws for the quality/condition of said vehicles. We MUST start in our own house! There are far to many “Bribes” and under the table deals being done at the inspection stations.......the criteria is very basic (which we should add some additional points) and yet it is clear so many cars shouldn’t pass and/or couldn’t. Further, far to many drivers with no insurance or expired license driving these cars in terrible condition. Police should be setting up more random road checks for license and registration,........goes that cars need to be properly inspected with current documentation prior to any new registrations or renewals are offered.

100% correct and agreed with the very short and succinct comment from "birdiestrachan" I've commented before several times about him needing to keep his mouth shut about what the computation does either with rates/promos they were running or topics such as these. I'm sure this isn't the only reason he got fired, but should have shut up his mouth and worry and running his own hotel which is what he gets paid for. It is standard practice in the industry which even a young first time manager knows, never talk bad about the compition. Let customers figure out things on their own, and they will eventually come to you if they don't like your compition for what ever reason. For somebody if his stature and high ranking title, it was below him and showed no class. Karma is a damn thing.

Amen and thank God somebody high ranking in the industry has some sense and reality about them. Mr. Issa is 100% correct and should be commended for an honest and upfront position in the matter of introductory rates, promos and bounce back offers to jump start a new opening. It shows class and more importantly, reality. There is no lack of examples from the past where there is "Bad Blood" between Breezes and Baha Mar with all the controversial legal challenges. However, he still speaks bluntly as a seasoned industry professional and not a whining one like the head of Atlantis and Sandels with all their canabalism talk.

Really, there is a lot to digest in this article, as well as many statistics. Seriously, mentioning and addressing Texting while driving? I agree this is an issue for the entire world. However I must say, I see exponentially more people with an alchoholic beverage in there hand while driving than I do a phone. The number of people driving substantially under any speed limit and crossing back and forth of center line is unbelievable. Until the Bahamas gets serious and address the white elephant in the room and implement some more robust laws for drinking and driving, it doesn't make sense for a minister to approach this topic. I have never seen a sobriety checkpoint. For the minister to make statements on this topic and not once mention alcohol is a joke and insult.
