No a child shouldn't pay but how much more can we take if the people are coming here illegally and then breeding like rabbits? The monster is of their own making. Our laws are in place but the problem clearly starts with the disrespect and the blatant breaking of them.
So why is Rights Bahamas making this a UB issue? Sounds to me like an immigration issue. So what? Is UB supposed to ignore the fact that a Haitian - who refuses to get a Haitian passport to which he or she is entitled - doesn’t have ior want to get any papers and just let them in. What kind of nonsense is that? We running a University or a clown school?
You give these people the inch and they want the darn mile.
But I’m not sorry. That’s what the Givernment gets for allowing them to go all the way to high school ‘free’ with no papers. Now they feel entitled to go all the way to university undocumented. You can’t blame them. It’s a classic case ‘Play with big dog....’
The Government can hardly be accountable to itself, much less watch over a boating business in Abaco somewhere. We watched a whole 2-million-dollar building go up on smoke because a crony contractor did not purchase insurance and nothing has been done about it to this date. Do you think, therefore, that the private sector will fare any less. The Government can't man itself, much less a boat business. #realtalk
The lunatic in charge of the country - and to shut him up is my guess.
Anyone noticing that this is the second resignation from the FNM party (Mr. Sands also resigned from the FNM), the BEC Chairman having resigned a few weeks ago and if you're paying attention, both matters are linked to Desmond Edwards..... anyone notice a trend here?
Why do successive Governments continue to give lip service to crime and illegal immigration?
Most of our issues with both can be fixed with constitutional referendums (to entrench capital punishment and/or remove the privy council as our final count of appeal for criminal matters) to fix such things.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You, Dr. Minnis, are the prime minister. You have the right to fix the laws. After all this is what Parliamentarians do. You do not sit on your as* and give a press release because your good friend, the Governor General, lost a close aid in her camp. What do you gain from these things? Why pander to the press and public when in another week or more there will be another heinous crime that will make this one pale in comparison.
I tell you this country was lost the day Archdeacon William Thompson was murdered in his own church. We’ve also had a young woman from St. Kitts murdered while breastfeeding feeding her baby and an 8-year-old murdered while doing his homework. I can think of many other cases where the crime was heinous enough to cause a public outcry but in each and every case the same lip service was given by the persons who had the power to bring solutions and yet nothing was done.
Can we please just stop doing this? It’s old and like the boy who cried wolf, nobody with any common sense believes you anyway.
Get on with the business of actually governing this country. The people that elected you are waiting.
I think that the commuter was a little too slow in responding. It was only after the story would not die and Bahamians were still expressing outrage on social media into the wee hours of Tuesday morning that they finally announced ‘she’ relinquished the crown on Wednesday afternoon and the statement clearly insinuates lthat she gave it up and they did not think enough of the controversy to strip her of it.
Yeah we get that the Bahamas is a melting pot - thanks to a Government that continues to pander to illegals and regularize their offspring - with the result being exactly what you’re reading here. Most are not loyal and continue to swear allegiance to a country they have no intention of ever setting foot in all while taking advantage of our health and educational systems to spit back in our face with it as soon as they get anywhere in this country.
Let this be a lesson to all ‘mixed’ Bahamians and foreigners. Bahamians do not take kindly to any threat to our sovereignty. As much as we do not come together for much else, we will come for you.
