The Government is hell bent on taxing us into oblivion. Economcially, it’s the equivalent of sexual assault without protection - unless, of course, you own a wash house or an airline business.

Davis knows what the play is because he and his corrupt PLP party allowed themselves to be bought by Nygard and the Numbers Boys. Small wonder their short stint in power was marred by corruption. It started prior to election. The only thing they didnt count on was that the Bahamian people would see past the bull and vote them out and the Numbers Boys didnt count on their purchased Government losing power and being replaced by one not swayed by their long dollars.

I'm willing to ‘bet’ that if they back thr PLP again, that the PLP never sees the light of another term in office.

Boo hoo hoo!! The PLP Government you funded to get yourselves legalized is now out of office.

Suck it up buttercup!

How sad. I wonder if Dr. Minnis and his wife will be visiting the grieving mother?

Business owners will just use this as another excuse to price gorge. They're going to say, our costs have increased, but truthfully VAT is still a consumer tax. The persons using the service has to pay it, not the person giving the service. In fact, to my knowledge, the business owners get their money back on any VAT paid on their utilities. The only expenditure that I believe that is incurred, is adjusting their computer systems to calculate the new VAT rate at the point of sale.

I remember when VAT was first implemented how businesses like Gallaria Cinemas and Lowe's went up 30% or more on their prices. I suspect it won't be any different come July 1st. We as consumers just have to be smarter about our purchases. If I don't need it, I'm definitely not buying it. That will be my stance going forward because it's getting next to impossible to live in the Bahamas.

Long run, short catch. They’ve been making mega millions off thr backs of poor people for years and that last corrupt government actually legalised their crimr so I’m not the least bit sorry.

You should have listened to the voice of thr people and not legalised them,

Yes they sure seem to have increased since the new Commissioner was appointed. Unlike his predecessor, this Commissioner does not even do press conferences. He does not toot a horn or answer questions from the press.

Starting to wonder if the police have been given some secret order to shoot first and ask questions later.

This incident is also looking like a major cover up.

I agree too. He has been making it very obvious that he has courted the Haitian vote and now is paying them back by putting Frankie in the cabinet and having Brent Symonette fast-track their citizenships - the premise of their entry being illegal be damned!

We can hardly get a sex offenders registry off the ground so what makes anyone think that laws to protect butchering an animal will do any better. Very sad story indeed. I only glimpsed the headline... I couldn't read it.

Saw this video and frankly, I don't have a problem with a good cut behind (Bahamian style). Grew up with it and it never warped my thinking or gave me any psychological damage. In fact, I thank my parents every day for the person it made me. What I don't agree with, however, is those punches to the head. Now that is completely over the top. The parent/guardian has now crossed the line and this form of discipline is bordering on abuse. She could have controlled herself... and the person who posted it is equally as reckless.
