... minimum wage is an entry level salary. People who are still making minimum wage after 2 years have no one to blame but themselves. An individual must choose to improve their lot in life, not rely on others to do it for them.
...I wonder how much of our national debt is a direct result of policies that schooled, fed, immunized and otherwise helped Haitian migrants over the years and I wonder how many jobs might be available to persons born in the Bahamas **legally**, if we didn't have competition with the offspring of illegal Haitian migrants!
... people don't seem to understand that you get paid for what you bring to the table in skills or knowledge! Entry level pay is not designed for people to build their lives on, it is ENTRY level pay. People need to develop skills or products others are willing to pay for if they want to make more, it's that simple!
... strangely, this "study" does not mention how many males in the sample were sexually touched etc without giving consent to their wives! Not to ask this question is to have an inherent bias in the process, making this "study" invalid!
... market forces should determine minimum wages, not the government. This is always a great way to increase unemployment while ensuring employees do more work or work longer hours for relatively less pay!
... as a black Bahamian, what this nation has become in my lifetime under these so called "heroes" makes me think we might have been better off still being under the British thumb. At least we would have had a better educational system and more efficient administrative system in government!!
... oh gawd!! This is the crux of why we are a fourth world country, people using politics for self service instead of national service! There should be term limits for all politicians!
... to me this is moronic and blurs the lines between a person's personal and business life. In order for a mother to breastfeed her child on the job she would have to take her child to work with her. There are other options like expressing milk and freezing it so the child can continue on breast milk. The gender pay gap is an issue for most women and this may be one reason why. Employers pay for productivity on the job!!
