This was well crafted political theater to save his political hide. He knew another lockdown could have resulted in an uproar and more internal stress in the FNM.

We will continue to have deaths almost on a daily basis for some time because of those already infected and it is also likely that some Bahamians will not use discretion and continue to social distance.

People still do not understand the concept of having a designated shopper. Today, I had to walk around several sets of couples strolling through the grocery store like they on vacation. It is guaranteed that the number of cases will increase. So sad!!

I can only hope business owners impose standards to ensure that their businesses are not jeopardized and forced to close again.

@Cobalt... and despite the global nature of the pandemic different countries have had different experiences based on how they approached the same problem. Consequently, there is a direct correlation between specific actions taken and spread of the virus.

... Swedens approach resulted in it having 2-3 times as many deaths compared to other Nordic countries. They were willing to allow their population to be exposed to the risk of death in order to protect the economy. That is immoral in any language!

@castaway ... my friend you are incredibly naïve if you do not understand the inefficiencies in the public health system that are contributing to the spread of this virus! The primary reason for covid-19 spread is a failure to quarantine people who are positive. Government clinics and covid hotlines are simply telling people with mild symptoms to stay at home. These people are still moving around because they feel well and are spreading the disease. You can be sure grocery shopping in anticipation of another lockdown will contribute greatly to an increase in numbers over the next two weeks! The government is not testing enough of the people who need to be tested!

... obese or not this woman risked her life everyday she went to work during this pandemic! From an extremely reliable source at Sandilands I was told that nurses at Sandilands were concerned about their exposure to known covid-19 cases there and were asking to be tested but were turned away from the South Beach clinic and told to go back to work or pay the $250 Doctors Hospital charges to do the test.
Consistently we have heard reports of government not taking proper care of front line workers with PPE's or testing. Sad state of affairs, but to read the platitudes to the deceased from those in the ministry of Health is even more tragic!!
