interesting that none of these persons have been tested, but simply asked to 'self isolate.' This can mean that they are contagious, though asymptomatic and risk infecting family members.
It was reckless not to screen them for the virus and simply ask them to stay at home!! This is the reason confirmed cases are so low in the Bahamas!
@B_I_D__ ...because the person with no symptoms can propel the virus into the air by talking, laughing or sneezing, if a person with no symptoms wears a mask the can reduce the amount of stuff they spew into the air which is beneficial for all. Regular face masks will not substantially reduce inhaling airborne viruses though because their pores are too large. I believe the general trend is for regular people without symptoms to not wear N95 masks (leave those for the healthcare workers who have repeated exposure) because they are in short supply!
... the truth is if everybody stays home for three weeks this thing will burn itself out. The other issues can be worked out thereafter. The idiots who are scooting around like its a holiday will prolong just how long the virus stays in circulation and delay economic recovery!
Going into business is a risk that generally rewards those who have a good product or service. The investors get all the benefits, but they should absorb the risk as well. Governments should not be in the business of bailing out business two weeks after any economic downturn. Businesses have a responsibility to include the unforeseen in their contingency plans. IMHO economic "stimulus" plans generally do not work!
...much interbreeding has occurred in Abaco over the years. Quite a few black creole speaking Sawyers, Lowes etc in Abaco, making it harder to deal with the problem!
... I believe the point being made is that if people sit down and make a list of what they need they won't have to make multiple trips in a day to the same store. They certainly don't need to have more than one person doing the shopping. That inconveniences everyone and increases their risk of exposure to possible infection!
Groups of persons going to grocery stores at this time should be ticketed for stupidity and fined!
There is no way taxpayer funds should be doled out like candy less than two weeks after a 'lock down' because some one will have to pay for it, most likely the struggling middle class! If this move was considered after two months it would be understandable. How can people not be able to support themselves after being out of work for two weeks when you can't get in a bank, grocery store or fast food place because of the long lines?? This is madness!!
There has to be a conversation about personal responsibility in this country. Where will the money come from if we sustain major storm damage this hurricane season? Our leaders never seem to think ahead. The default position of our government in every crisis is to mimic our neighbors to the north. It has always been a foolhardy approach. Now even more so!
By the time this nonsense is over the national debt will be $10 billion, China will move in to offer "aid" and our politicians will sell what's left of this nations soul.
How insensitive of the virus not to take one persons feelings into consideration. And how inconsiderate of the government trying to prevent the spread of an infection that has killed so many. There are people dying right around all around this world from this infection. Nobody expected this. Nobody wanted this. While I am sorry for his loss, we all have to play the hand we have been dealt at this time!
We simply need to extend shopping hours starting from 6 am until.... Once people know there is no shortage of food the tendency to horde will decrease. But I do agree that we don't need entire families crowding up aisles in grocery stores to buy three items!
