So apparently this is the first time some "senior" doctors have done an honest days work in the public system for some time and they are not used to it! Everybodys moaning and complaining, but whose thinking about the patients!
Its not complicated. The government pays for and maintains the public ward and the private sector (owners and providers of private medical services, etc) the private wards. Ever notice the difference in maintenance between public and private business places?
Can you imagine the precedent compliance with these ridiculous demands would have on other unions in this country? What they are doing should be considered extortion and dealt with accordingly!
Governments consistently increase the cost of living through taxes, waste money on re-election schemes (NHI, free college, unnecessary roadworks etc), lose millions in tax concessions to foreign investors, borrow and waste public funds and do not allow govt salaries to keep pace with inflation and they wonder why they have a problem?
This is a two way street, doctors deserve to be fairly treated and compensated, but the public deserve for them to do their jobs professionally, efficiently and competently! Sadly, too many do not do their jobs properly!
