Each person must choose their source of morality (views of right and wrong). Those who believe in the bible (or other religions writings) as a basis for morality believe the wisdom in it comes from God (or their god) and the rules are beneficial encouraging a duty to God, family and their fellowman. Those who create a morality based on their feelings, opinions and other ideas or philosophies can constantly shift that morality to suit their purposes. This promotes instability in societies and the human psyche. One need only look at the Bahamas 40 years ago or more when we had a predominantly biblical morality and the Bahamas now with more liberal views. Where this country is now IS NOT progress, by any standard. But, to each his own!
I just wish Bahamians could take pride in being hard working, honest and faithful in their relationships. That would go a long way to turning things around!
Countries have laws, the governments responsibility is to enforce them for the general well being! May they continue to enforce the law in all things, including immigration!
Government should not be in the business of home repairs, it sets a terrible precedent that is unsustainable and encourages political tribalism. Only homeowners with up to date property taxes should be able to qualify for low interest loans from local banks so that taxpayers don't get burdened with loans that default.
The governments focus should be on fixing local economies so that people can afford to take care of their own responsibilities!
... at least Filipinos are here legally, are better educated, better socialized and don't breed like flies, and when intermingled with, they improve the gene pool!!
I have heard too little gratitude coming out of these shelters. I understand their frustrations, but people should at least be thankful that they are alive, son't get wet when it rains and can eat and bathe due to the generosity of donors!
