... no need to be bewildered, others will have different points of view than yours. That used to be okay! Trumps "handling" of the coronavirus was more political than actual. The only way to not get the virus is to not breathe! Americas federal and state system makes it difficult to mandate certain things without impinging on certain personal rights. It was sensible to allow governors to choose a plan that best suited their state and back them up federally. Most failure was at the gubernatorial level, not the federal level! He certainly did a far better job than our doctor leader did here, at least they developed therapeutics and have vaccines under development.
... agreed. No one can explain how large states like Texas, California, Florida and New York could get counted within hours, but a state like Nevada could not! Quite strange and third world!
I thought this article written back in August 2020 was an interesting one!
@ForeverDreamer... Most adults know that words have specific meanings, so I was just highlighting the FACTS that rape and sexual abuse are not the same thing and IPV is higher and more violent in same sex relationships.
Name calling or applying labels is the refuge of cowards or those with no rational counter-argument!
This article conflates rape and sexual assault. Only men can commit rape (penetration of an orifice with the penis and without reasonable belief of consent), any other form of non-consensual sexual touching is a variation of sexual assault!
What is interesting is the increase in sexual confusion in Bahamian youth and the increased rates of abuse in same sex groups around the world. Sadly, same sex groups also have higher rates of mental illness, substance abuse and suicide. If only we as a people could learn to take the best from other countries instead of the worse!
We are a failed state. There is little we can do right that is worth talking about!
Ego combined with ignorance is a potent mix and both are prominent in government. The outcome of this decision is obvious to everyone but those who lead.
Will there be a volume off visitors to justify what will be a catastrophic mistake. Who wants to come to a third world country that is at the bottom of all countries in handling this pandemic?
We could have been further ahead if the government was just willing to listen to common sense options. Their decisions are proof that they are unqualified to continue in office. The "incompetent authoritarian" should be make to resign!
... what they do is quarantine **positive cases** (not everybody) until they test negative. We have any number of facilities that could have been converted to quarantine centers (school gyms etc). Once a positive person is there for 14-21 days and tests negative, they can go back home. Simple. What our gov't did was ask people to SELF quarantine while they did not stay home and continued community spread!
