What's the point of becoming a republic, a pig in a dress is still a pig! Until we accept that all political systems are man made and therefore subject to being corrupted for the benefit of a few very little will change. What we need are leaders who actually have character, integrity and the national interest at heart not merely those who project the image that they do!
"Nearby, a new shanty town is growing, this time with solid concrete block homes and modern metal roofs. No one seems to know what to do about what they call “the problem", meaning **poor people of diverse backgrounds, including Haitian, essential to the work force,** but now homeless after Dorian swept out to sea the former shanty towns where they lived and where their micro-businesses flourished."
Very politically correct isn't she! What we need is a policy of no tolerance of illegality or criminality on that island!
@Chucky ... how did our existence or life itself come about if not by creation? Believing in macro-evolution is the equivalent of believing in the statistical likelihood of a loaf of bread gradually developing on its own if all ingredients are present for a long enough period of time!
BTW what does your statement have to do with advancing as a nation? If I remember correctly this nation was much better off when people practiced the beliefs of the "supreme being". People had more character and we had stronger communities!!
Order should have been imposed from day one as RBDF and RBPF took control of that disaster zone and the fact that they didn't is a dereliction of duty, incompetence or a mixture of the two! Maybe they lack the training to handle crisis situations. Our governments are always reactive and never proactive with every situation and always with a truckload of excuses!!
This country does not have an unlimited supply of money. At some point there has to be a discussion about personal responsibility-- the governments job is NOT to take care of its citizens!! Cremate the bodies since they are discarded like refuse by their loved ones and move on!
... doesn't matter what you guys think, opinions are like noses, everybody has one. This is one of the major problems I see, certain people think their opinions have greater value than the opinions of others. It reeks of high-mindedness' with authoritarian tendencies, get over yourselves! People will have views that differ from yours!!
We don't get to vote and the American public will decide in just a few days! Let's see what happens!
What these supercilious, self aggrandizing dimwits do not understand is that Trump is a smart guy with common sense who is relatable to common people. Most people see through the smokescreens of fake news and Trump bashing. Secondly, if you run down a list of Trumps promises and results the average person can see that he has kept a bulk of the promises that matter to THEM. They will blame the Dems and the failed impeachment process for impeding his accomplishing the others!
People can berate Trump all they want, but he has turned the political world upside down once and will do it again!
