The person who will be trained will already be hired by the company, therefore no need for having to hire him/her after the year. They will already be a part of the company.
Off the topic a bit locally but just a prime example of how the local vendors are outpricing themselves. I had an issue with my car and was diagnosed as a lower control arm. I checked the prices here at local shops for one. The price i got was $260.00. I then went online and checked the price of same. I found that I was able to get 2 of the lower control arms, 2 inner tie rod ends, 2 outer tie rod ends, 2 stabilzer links, 2 boots and the clamps for same, 12 items for $99.00. When adding freight and customs, my total came to $204.00, which is $56.00 less than 1 of the lower control arms, so where do you think I purchaqse my parts from? US, you are right. The markup on these items is toooo high therefore folks travel to the US to shop for this same reason.
Birdie. This will be one less entity the government will have to subsidize and the onus will be on the private sector to ensure that the area is well kept, horses and surreys are up to standard with horses well taken care of and not being inhumanely used. If the port need to be dredged later, then it is the private operator to have it done. Hopefully the call up system will be better organized and the traffic mess eliminated by a better organized call up system. Hopefully the area will be better manicured physically. These things will take that burden off the government.
*****Strong**About two years ago, 147 employees in the technical field were made to accept voluntary separation packages and were told that BTC would outsource the department,” the union leader told The Tribune. “They were also encouraged to form into a company and BTC would give them the contract to perform the same services. #“At the time, the union negotiated that the workers would continue to make salaries until they put together the company and BTC was able to prepare the RFP. Well, two companies emerged from among those persons, however two years later BTC took the RFP off the table and now they want to change the terms and conditions of the agreement and sign a new deed of release and have a new contract.”***
I am trying to understand this situation. Are they still BTC employees or they are their own bosses?. They formed their own companies, so therefore they are their own bosses. I know with RFP's, they go out to bid and the best company wins the proposal, so how are they so attached to BTC with BTC providing them with cell phones and minutes free, laptops and vehicles. This sound like a sweetheart deal. In addition, they want vacation pay included in this RFP. Since when do the company you are providing a service to is responsible for your vacation pay. That is your company so therefore you work that in yourself. If the contract is up, then re-negotiate another one with the terms you are comfortable with. The company then has the option to accept or reject your offer and negotiate with another vendor providing the same services. How did the union got involved in this? They are no longer members of the BCPOU nor any of the unions. Evans need to sit down with them and read them the riot act and stop leading them on. So does Minister foulkes. Let them negotiate on their own and stay out of private companies business. I say to BTC, negotiate in good faith and select the best deal for you. There are former employees of Batelco who can and are willing to take on the challenge. We can form our own company and do exactly what they bare doing. Go through your list of former employees and lets negotiate. Phone numbers hasn't changed, so go to that database and give them a call. They are awaiting that call.
He is not stooping to no new low. These are folks who went through the right channels and applied for their citizenship after reaching the age of 18 and the immigration department through the cabinet did nothing to regularize. All this had to go through cabinet for approval of their citizenship, spousal permits etc and every past government used it as a vote buying exercise around election time, which was wrong. Appoint an independent commission who can view these applications and grant where the applicant meets the criteria. It's about time an exercise like this be performed and stop the foolishness that is happening right now. If you illegal, then go back to your country. You will discover that a lot of folks will qualify for citizenship because of corrupt bahamians who sold their birthright for a bowl of soup. Remember the passport scam a few years ago when the passports for illegal haitians were found in the ceiling at the passport office. Also there was a group of people collecting same and flying to haiti to deliver same. The illegals then travel here as legit. So the problem is not with illegals but with us as bahamians. We need to come to our senses and stop marrying foreign to allow folks to get our citizenships for a marriage of convenience.
Brave should be the first one to step down. Their biggest mistake is for brave to run as leader. If they want to win the heart of bahamians again, Chester cooper should have put his name forward as leader and start to rebuild with young new faces. That is what the FNM did and you see the results.
Think it's an excellent idea. All these entities that borrowed from BDB and are not paying their loans back need to start paying of their loans. Just like the education loans, some benefitted and now that others want to borrow, can't because the authority is broke. I say start freezing assets from these borrowers and allow others to benefit from the same loan benefits that the delinquent borrowers were able to. Too much slackness in these departments. Those who really need the help really can't get it because of those who can afford to establish businesses on their own borrowed and refused to pay.
All these doctors offices should be investigated. If you don't have insurance, they charge you $ 100.00. If you do, then the bill to the insurance company is $500.00. Your limit on the medical insurance is 1 million dollars before they cut you off completely. Whats happens is that you get less medical attention from the 1 million dollars ceiling and the doctor's offices benefit the most by charging these extra fees to the insurance companies.
