We all know corrupt leaders become corrupt dictators and this inevitably opens the door to terrorism, times are scary and the world’s safety is teetering on a tight, tightrope right now. We need to keep our allies not make enemies of them, it is not a time for hotheads making threats to investors. If Minister Mitchell truly wants to help the nation and keep it secure he should let the PM fight his own battles and concentrate on his own issues at Immigration, maybe start by getting rid of all semblance of corruption under his portfolio. Preliminary with the new $200.00 'rush' fee to process a Bahamian passport…..really? To the layman it just reeks of underhanded shadyness so dump it. This is a time to make a legacy be a Good one, and one for Good. http://carnegieendowment.org/files/corr… http://carnegieendowment.org/2014/06/06…
PM never likes to meet before 11:00am gees everyone know that! And he is usually late, everyone knows that as well, Mr Minnis this should not be a surprise, it's not a secret, were all used to waiting for Gov. entities, next time download good book and enjoy the quiet time waiting. Just please stop the whining and acting like brats in a playground.
Do Something Constructive.
Wake up, look around for christ's sake YOUR people are Suffering terribly. Now is a Golden opportunity to actually show what a Leader is and do some GOOD for all the citizens, ok, and your Legacy.
Ask the right Questions: Why do the Chinese really want to take over Baha Mar, for just a Resort to visit? or is the real prize one of our other untapped resources = OIL?
The Beast Must Feed....China is running out of many Basic bioresources, forests, good soil, fresh water and oil, the sky is so polluted it's hardly ever blue in some chinese cities .
Would be interesting to see Real numbers... showing how many applications have been submitted, then the number of applications processed, and in what timeframe.
Well Duh! You would expect any right thinking person to have contempt for the Government after the way they have behaved but I doubt very much if there's any contempt toward the Bahamian People or The Bahamas as a 'Country'.
Baha Mar are trying to do the right thing with 'Voluntary' Chapter22 and reboot the project. And of course the PM would have known this would be an option!? saying he was blindsided is deceitful, and if he was blindsided then that is a more embarrassing admission as the MOFinance.
http://www.wsj.com/articles/bahamas-res… "Judge Kevin Carey of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Del., signed off on the company’s bid to access $30 million of the financing on an interim basis during a hearing Wednesday, noting that it was the first time in a long time **he’d seen a bankruptcy loan with so few strings attached.** The financing is being provided by Baha Mar chairman Sarkis Izmirlian, a Bahamian businessman who began work on the project in 2009."
*That's $30Million! plus many more millions already invested, I don't call that gesture “a great degree of disrespect” and “contempt”
Anybody who wants Baha Mar to fail should be ashamed of themselves. This is a lesson in how a project like this affects Every Single One Of Us. This is also why we should think more Sustainably and move toward smaller hotels in future.
Talk about elephant in the room!! What the hell is wrong with The Hundreds of Churches here? They Have Forsaken Their Sheep! They need to address the crime issues every single Sunday, they get all sorts of Tax & Duty breaks from the government yet do absolute nothing in return that is ‘Really Tangible or Useful’ for the people. They just pontificate and stuff their fat tailored pockets with the poor and gullible people’s money. They are the truly despicably evil sinners amongst us, (Not the poor wayward child that gets his only comfort or guidance in life from a gang) Actions speak louder than words …and so why would they stop crime? It’s in their best interest for crime to be rampant, Crime pays for Churches, they make a lot money from crime funerals and counselling are pretty darned lucrative. The World Health Organization, says anything above 10/100,000 per capita constitutes an epidemic, while rates above 30/100,000 are classed as an armed conflict zone. the bahamas is an armed conflict zone and now more dangerous than Iraq. 15 most violent countries in the world - http://businesstech.co.za/news/internat…
Gloating and Boasting, oh dear, well thats never a good thing to see from any politician but, I guess that is what they do.
And with a complete stagnation in spending on any upgrades in services or basic infrastructure plus the introduction of a new tax, they bloody well should have had some fiscal improvement to show!
So the developer really thinks the law in the Bahamas does not apply to them, they are above the Law, because they have money. And they don't care this shows blatant Contempt. But more worrying is the government also have the same view....they also don't want to follow the same laws as the rest of us.
Meanwhile dolphins are suffering terribly = bad for tourism and how the world views the moral integrity of the nation = bad for us all.
