How many times have we heard over the years that "this project" or "that project" will bring Freeport back to life. As long as the Governments (PLP or FNM) continue to go out of their way to suppress Freeport it will never come back!
Very sorry to hear of the passing of Sir Godfrey. He was quite instrumental in the passing of the 1966 Constitution of the Bahamas prior to self rule. He was a Gentleman and I know he will be greatly mis sed by his family!
Both Governments since 1967 seemed to have done their best to run Freeport into the ground either on purpose (the PLP) or by just abject stupidity (the FNM). Maybe they could raze the whole City and just start over.
Income Tax?? Give me a break. The Government can't collect Real Property Taxes when they have the property right in front of them. Any accountant with a sharp pencil will beat the Government on income taxes!
Successful candidates in the recent election are now changing their phone numbers so that they don't get hassled by the people who put them in office. Only in our beloved little Colony. Amazing!!
Thank you Tal---I can understand your desire not to mention the actual names of the fortunate families. It will be interesting to see if the change in the regime will bring about any material differences in the distribution of wealth in our beloved Colony!!
