Do these people really believe that persons would rather than work remotely from their own homes, pay money to fly then rent a place forum to one year to work remotely from the Bahamas? A student would fly here to study online from the Bahamas? If this is the indication of the suggestions coming from this so called economic recovery committee, then we about to get nothing.
I think DDK said it. Private in Grand Bahama does not mean gated. Many communities in Grand Bahama are private subdivisions. They were developed by a developer or DEVCO and not the government, and a number of these are in low cost areas. Areas like Hudson, Heritage, Pioneers, all severely affected by the hurricane, and not gated, but the developer would not do anything. Do you just leave all that debris on the side of the road? That is where Sanitation Services came in and did the work and then charged the developer.
Unlike the rest of the Bahamas, much of what happens in Freeport is not at the taxpayers expense. Freeport communities have to pay for services received. So much of that $30 million was in East End, where the government runs and Abaco.
This is the sad tragedy of many of our government offices still seeking to operate brick and mortar. Why is national insurance not able to direct deposit to accounts and then send a text to let people know that their funds have been deposited. Can our civil servants not be technical savvy?
Did anyone ever expect an investigation as Minnis said? After all, this the same Minnis in 2018 in December who said in two weeks the fixed election date bill was coming to the house, and sell has not reached.
*“As currently designed using industry standards, this project will produce the majority of power generation for the entire island of New Providence for decades to come. It will be made up of two joint ventures – the ‘Terminal Company’ to operate the LNG terminal, receiving, storing, and re-gasifying the LNG, and the ‘Power Company’ to generate electricity, which will be sold to BPL for transmission and distribution. Both Power Co. and Terminal Co. are expected to be majority owned by Shell; current plans include the balance of the former held by BPL, and the latter by other Bahamian investors.”*
This statement here clearly show that this deal is not in the best interest of the Bahamas, an in particular, New Providence. So BPL builds a plant and then Shell takes it over to operate it. And then She'll sells power to BPL to sell it to the consumer. Really? So BPL is a middle man now and power costs is supposed to decrease with this deal?
No way this deal should be signed, unless they clearly show how power costs to the consumer will decrease exponentially.
So Davis argument is that there are more senior justices? And that because his objections to the justice were not taken to stop the appointment? Seriously? Is he that shallow?
Firstly, seniority does not make one better. How many MPs and civil servants are there with seniority in positions, but have no ability?
Also, just because he gets consulted does not mean that the PM has to listen to his comments.
If Davis had sense, he would have followed the Bar Association's argument, that a transparent process is needed for selecting justices, that is know by all. Not a process where only the PM and Opposition leader talk among themselves.

*We have acquired some 200 of these cameras in the first instance and we have outfitted all of our officers on the front line with these cameras.*
So we only have 200 police officers on the frontline? Where are all the other officers? Is the police force that top heavy?
On Frontline police now fitted with body cams
