*The Government, in a statement explaining the switch from a ban on US commercial passenger air and sea traffic to a 14-day quarantine for all visitors using such transportation, said this was designed to create “a uniform standard of treatment for all visitors” during the COVID-19 pandemic rather than single out individual countries.*
What garbage is this. Every other country determines which countries they allow and do not and we have an attorney general who trying to tell us we can do that? But like I said before, since we are no independent but just dependent on others, we should expect this.
*The leader of the PLP can take no credit in this situation either. Asked to attend a Cabinet briefing on COVID-19, Philip ‘Brave’ Davis declined because it was “such short notice that it is not possible for the Leader to attend”.*
This cannot be correct. Not Davis who blaming the government about dialogue and now when offer comes he runs?
I agree with the editorial however, that if the PM would talk to the media, he could have tested the suggestion on not letting out Bahamians there. Even though if you had listened to some of the media calling the lockdowns stupid you know they would have blasted the PM. But at least now the blame would be off him.
We need to stop playing politics and passing the buck. The government should not have given Bahamians the 3 day exemption, even though they would have complained. And Bahamians should have had more sense than to go into the cover hotspot in Florida.
Both created the problem. Now, do like New Zealand. Lock everyone down and get rid of it and then control your borders after that for everyone. Sad part now is the innocent have to suffer for the guilty.
It's not a lockdown when you can still go to the foodstore, pharmacy and gas station. So you still can go to essential services. Amazing how we react to one word and don't read the rest. Tired of the panic readers causing panic reactions.
Did you see the article above and what the headline was claiming? Did you see that stated in there? Where did he say they are still negotiating? If as by your claims they were letting people go, then you agree the deal is sealed.
Did I miss something? This is a pure click bait by the Tribune which is very sad. Expected better editorial standards. Nowhere in this words of the Minister did I read him to say they are still working out the Grand Lucayan deal. What I read him saying is that even though they have a heads of agreement, because of COVID19 impacting cruise lines, the cruise lines first focus is to make sure they can stay in business. I for one would think that would be the first goal of any business
