Well, if you don't like VAT, they just need to have a new tax.

Bottom line is governments need money to pay the interest on the money already borrowed. Governments dot make money ( unless your the USA FED) do it has to come from the people.

If the governments don't extract enough from you then they won't get any new loans, and then at this point you get no services.

Somewhat related is:

There are only so many tourists dollars to go around.

Most of the world is not doing very well and vacations and such are among the first items cut. EU in quite bad shape, USA only limping along at best nd japan, Russia and now China in bad shape also.

Add to this the fact that the Bahamas is not on the cheapest side of the list of destinations and then tack on the crime .. and you have a bot so good combination going forward.

Sounds like the Bahamas got plenty people know how to use a gun. So me thinks, maybe make a mandatory 2 year service to your country in a defence force boot camp. This way ya get to shoot ya gun off as much as ya want, serve your country, and cut down on the people in jail.

want to see how this can play out, just look at Greece.

First they loan you the money, and now you in deibt. They know you cant pay it off so they get you to seel them (privitize things) like BEC, Batelco ... a list can keep growing. This way the bankers extract more $.

Then they lower your credit rating, more interest for them, and then the austerity begins which is really less money for the people because its needed for the interest payments.

Anyway, good to see crime still big in the news as really going to help with getting more money into the country.
