Why has the government not secured anymore doses than the 120,000 for India and Covax? Vaccine sales started almost 9 months ago. What has the government done to procure the remaining vaccines for the rest of the population? The US is getting vaccinated and beginning to open up. People are going to want to travel. We need to get our vaccinations up so that we can be a host to the pent up travel demand. We are losing more every single day in country revenue than the cost of vaccinating the entire population. The government is spending money left and right and they can't get themselves together enough to spend some on actually getting our country back to normal. And then they have the nerve to tell us the light is at the end of the tunnel. What kind of operation are they running?
What is he talking about? Isn't Renward an engineer, he should be able to do math. With Covax and the gift from India we have enough vaccines to fully vaccinate less than 20% of the population. We have had 8700 positive cases, even if that actually is 5x higher that is about 15% of the population, so now we have 35% of the population having an immunity. How, exactly, are we supposed to get immunity for the remaining 40% of the population that would get us to 75% for herd immunity? Where are these other 300,000 doses of vaccine coming from? Vaccines were put up for sale almost 9 months ago. Why has the government waited till now to start inquiring about purchases? What kind of show are they running here?
This bullcrap again. Try and go to any other country in the world right now, most don't even accept Americans and the rest all have testing requirements. Why is it that in the middle of a pandemic is when people find it in themselves to show off just how inept they are at navigating simple things in modern life.
And what is up with the Tribune continuing every few weeks to publish these letters from the people who want to travel internationally but can't seem to figure out how to do 2 things. Take a test, and send the results in along with their health visa application. That's it, two things. Marky Mark here has taken more effort to write this letter than it would be to apply for his health visa.
What happened to people? The world used to be much more difficult but now somehow Marky Mark just can't cope anymore. Also who needs to scan things? Labs send out result via email. Everyone of these letters talks about scanning documents like they somehow got them by fax or post or something.
In short, the Tribune seems to be in desperate need to fill space on the pages because they keep publishing confession of foreigners about just how hard it is for them to navigate basic tasks in life.
We can't properly re-open until the government actually has a plan to vaccinate the population. What have they done to secure the remaining 80% of the vaccines doses needed for this country? We are losing more in revenue each and every day than would cost to vaccinate to populace. Why have no purchase agreements been made with the vaccine manufacturers?
From where? The government has secured 120,000 vaccines, 100,00 from Covax, and 20,000 were a gift from India. There is currently no plan to get anymore. The government has not made any purchase agreements with any of the manufacturers to get the rest of the needed supply. Where are these next vaccines suppose to magically appear from?
With what? Our government has taken the path of gifts and Covax for getting our vaccines. That will get up to less than 20% of the population vaccinated. Instead they could have actually put in some effort to source the vaccines from the manufacturer. We lose more everyday as a country in lost revenue than the whole cost of vaccinating our population.
What is the plan for the rest of the population? Why has the government done nothing to procure more vaccines from the manufacturers? How do we ever expect to open up our country properly to tourists when we have no timeline for vaccinating the populace?
There's nothing to worry about because they don't even have vaccines for over 80% of the population. Why has the government not tried to secure a purchase agreement with any of the manufacturers? Biden is talking about sending US made AZ vaccines to Canada and Mexico, has our government tried to get in on that? All this vaccine debate is useless if we don't have a supply of vaccines to administer. This country is losing more per day in revenue then the cost of vaccinating the entire populace.
What about vaccines for the rest of the country? Why has the government not tried to secure the rest of the needed doses? We have enough for less than 20% of the population? Where are the purchase agreements? Why has this not been done till now? The whole purchase would be less than $10m. We need to vaccinate the population in order to properly reopen for tourism. Everyday we wait to try and get more vaccines will cost us more than all of the vaccines in lost revenue for the country.
We don't provide any air control. We don't collect the money because the US are the ones actually running the air control. It's their equipment, their personnel, their billing, their rules. If we want to collect it, then we need to actually build the infrastructure and the expertise to actually do it. They are not stealing our money. We are to lazy and disorganized to even have a system in place to collect it.
